The Wellington is a renowned real ale pub located in Birmingham city centre, just a short walk from New Street and Snow Hill stations. It offers a vast selection of 27 hand-pulled ales, including regulars like Wye Valley HPA, Black Country BFG, and Oakham Citra, alongside a rotating guest list. While it doesn't serve food, patrons are encouraged to bring their own or order takeaways, with plates and cutlery provided. The pub's welcoming atmosphere and extensive beer range make it a popular choice for both home and away fans seeking a quality pre-match or post-match venue.
May 2026. We went to the Wellington for a couple of drinks prior to a concert. A very well presented pub with a great selection of beers. The staff were on the ball and polite. I opted for the Pioneer by Lenton Lane Brewery. A well kept and delicious beer. All in all, another great Black Country Ales pub.
First time in here for a pre show drink. Not too busy at 7pm Monday. Large choice of local pump ales, bottled beers and spirits. Usual bar snacks and freshly made cobs. Staff quite friendly and atmosphere seemed ok for the time and day. Roof terrace available. Definitely worth a visit.
We were looking for a quiet, traditional pub which was not showing the rugby - a tall order for 8.30pm on a Saturday night. We found this gem and stayed for a couple of hours. The staff were welcoming, it has a great selection of ales, beers, and bottles of Belgium beer including Bruges Zot which we love. A great crowd, quiet enough to chat, multiple rooms and nooks and crannies to have a quiet drink in. Stunning original tiles everywhere and fireplaces. Love to see pubs so well preserved and not modernised. Highly recommend.
A lovely city centre pub, at the top of Bennet's Hill, full of old world ambience and atmosphere. Lots of quality real ales, IPA's and Ciders. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Nice and clean and accessible. Can't comment on food as didn't eat here, but enjoyed a few hours with my daughter sipping and chatting. Will definitely visit again again!
Proper old school ale centric boozer the sort of which are dying out. Beer screen on the bar as well as train times - perfect.. The beers though are front and center here and thank goodness for that. They just celebrated their 21st birthday- respect
