Held my Work's Retirement Celebration within the upstairs function room of the Royal on the 30/01/2026 which had it's own bar and toilet facilities. I could not falter the service received from managers James and Anthony in arranging the function and food in the months leading up to the event. The evening could not have gone any better, the buffet food was excellent in both quality and quantity. No request was too much to Anthony who worked his socks off all evening to ensure the bar and food service was second to non and very much appreciated by everyone of my guests. I would absolutely recommend this venue for private parties in every aspect, the evening could not have gone better.
Fab, wonderful staff. Private function upstairs. Good size room. Food was lovely. Can not comment on general atmosphere downstairs, as it was a private event, but on arrival people seemed happy. Would recommend.
We looked at the reviews of pubs in Birmingham for somewhere different and this one looked like our type of pub so we went on a weekday lunchtime. When we arrived it was quite busy but we were greeted by one of the ladies behind the bar who recommended their 2 for £10.95 menu - when the fish and chips arrived we could hardly believe how good it was and how quick it was delivered - in fact I said to one of the ladies I cant believe you can do it for this price. The pub and toilets were so clean it was refreshing to find somewhere like this and we recommended it to our neighbours who went yesterday and made the same comments as us. The staff were so nice and helpful we cannot recommend it enough, so if you are in Birmingham give it a try you certainly wont be disappointed and if you want somewhere a little quieter try upstairs where there is a lovely lounge.
Popped in for a pint on my way to a lunch reservation elsewhere, as it seemed to be the only pub open before 12pm around that area. Pub looks lovely inside and out, staff were friendly and efficient. Only downside was groups of people already starting to get a little rowdy in there that early, but nothing major that would put me off visiting again.
