About this Pub

The Faltering Fullback

Why it's great for Matchdays

A proven matchday spot: the pub shows live sport including football (the Evening Standard highlights its front room for watching big games; CAMRA notes TV screens show football and rugby). It's an easy pre-match meet near Finsbury Park station and about a 26-minute walk to Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. The Thai kitchen runs daily, so you can get a quick meal before or after kick-off, and they're licensed to open early for live sporting events—handy for lunchtime or international fixtures. Both Arsenal guides list it for home fans, while independent away-day guides note travelling supporters do use it, so expect a mixed crowd on matchdays.

Interesting outdoor space, quite winding and atmospheric. No luck with the Arsenal game but stayed for the beer and ended up trying the Thai menu, unexpected for a pub. Platter, green curry, pad thai were all decent. Could've been spicier for my taste but still enjoyable. Easy spot for a chilled night out.

My favourite pub in all of London, amazing beer garden. First went in 2024 for the Euros (England vs Spain) and it was packed. Have come back recently and it’s still 10/10. Great selection on tap too and the pad Thai was unreal.

I ordered the satay chicken, came very quickly. Although the chicken was dry it was still good. Some of the staff need some serious customer service training. The lady sitting down taking orders for food was unapproachable, she did not engage much at all. Was told by security that the area of smoking area was closing in 15 minutes at 9:55, we said no problem. 2mins later was told by another member of staff that we needed to leave the smoking area. He quickly followed it up by "leave now". We politely said that the other staff member said we have 15mins. He snap and become increasing aggressive towards us leaving. Honestly trying to be understanding and reasonable with these people gets you no where. The pub is truely amazing, fix the attitudes Ill happily come back. It's known for a good time, this is put a real dampener on my first experience.

This restaurant has a nice balance between casual and slightly upscale, making it suitable for different occasions. I visited in the evening and immediately noticed the warm atmosphere created by the lighting and music. The staff greeted us quickly and guided us through the menu when we had questions. We ordered a few different items to share, and everything came out looking great. Taste-wise, the dishes were consistent and well seasoned without being overwhelming. Service was mostly smooth, although there was a bit of a wait between courses. Still, nothing too frustrating. The dessert we tried was definitely a highlight and worth saving room for. Prices are on the higher side, but not unreasonable for what you get. Overall, a dependable place that delivers a good dining experience without taking unnecessary risks.
