I organised a small, post - funeral gathering at The Woodman. The service was outstanding - right from the initial telephone enquiries to the last minute we were there and beyond. All the staff, especially Lou and Steve, who looked after us on the day, were extremely helpful, friendly and on the ball. Lou especially, made sure the platters of sandwiches etc were brought out at just the right time (it was a very hot day...) and that we had everything we needed throughout the whole time, and she did it with a charm and enthusiasm that gave the occasion a real lift. The sandwiches were beautifully prepared, and though we didn't need the vegan or gluten free options they offer, there was plenty of both carnivorous and vegetarian choices, for sandwiches and the hot platter (samosas, spring rolls etc). The cakes, fruit and scones were delicious and the prosecco was excellent. We sat in a covered outside area which was airy and pleasant, though we found the two largish tables a little squashed together making it difficult to break off into small groups, not a big issue though. Finally, one of our party mislaid a bag, and I myself left a card behind, which meant two further phone calls, and they couldn't have been more helpful in helping to trace the bag and in posting me the card. It was everything you'd wish for on such an occasion. Many, many thanks everyone for such a warm welcome and for looking after us with such great care.
I recently held a wake at the Woodman for my beloved late husband. The Woodman staff were amazing from the moment I first contacted them. On the day a superb buffet was set out and all ready for when we arrived. The food was excellent and the staff were so lovely and helpful. Louise is amazing and looked after everyone, nothing was too much trouble she is a diamond. The pub setting was perfect - set out like a cosy country pub inside with great outdoor seating with heaters. Highly recommended venue - thank you to all the staff at the woodman ❤️
The wake for my late dad was held at the Woodman, everything was ready when we arrived , the food was amazing, the yorkshire puddings with sausages were popular, the cakes were delicious, staff were lovely, the location was perfect , thanks! We did wish that we lived nearer the pub as if so this pub would have been our new local! We would not hesitate to use the pub again in the future.
We held both our parents' wakes at The Woodman, the last one yesterday. Everything ran smoothly and efficiently, the food was very good and the staff professional and organised. We cannot recommend them highly enough
