Came for a Sunday roast and case is altered did not disappoint. Great portions of food that were absolutely delicious. The orange cheesecake was to die for. The service was great, very friendly staff that looked after us. I can’t wait to visit again.
Overall: ★★★☆☆ Food: Pub Food Overall a very respectable three stars. Why only three stars? The main dining room was quite cold. Then the potential issue over switching out fries and the bread which meant a drop which I believe is totally fair in the circumstances. The saving grace being the ladies service were both very, very nice. I think one of them had to be the manager. What I liked: • Very good service • Food served reasonably quickly • No issues with sampling any of the wines before buying • Fish and chips were good. Probably would have preferred more than a thimble sized portion of the mushy peas though and a few more fries. What I didn't like: • Being told the chef would need to be 'consulted' to see if it was ok to switch out chunky chips for fries on the fish and chips. • The 'sourdough' and 'whipped butter' leaves a lot to be desired. (See the photos) Essentially a couple of slices of normal bread and some butter in a 2oz sauce pot for £5! Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? YES Price point: $$
We came here from Bristol last year and it was fantastic. The roat beef was thickly sliced, tender and plentiful. The best we'd had for a long time. Sadly this time round it wasn't so good. We were sat in a corner of the room where there was a table of 28 people!! Incredibly noisy, all talking at once and screaming children. We could hardly hear ourselves speak. We ordered the beef again, expecting it to be the same as our previous visit. Not so. It was so thinly sliced, it was almost see through! The egdes were dry and burnt but what little there was in the middle was nice. The rest of the plate was lovely but the side dish of cauliflower cheese had halved in size. Last time there had been enough for 3 people!! The starter and pudding portion sizes were also smaller than before. The service was good, staff were friendly but overall we were very dissappointed with our visit.
We went for a Sunday roast last weekend with a foreign friend and she really had an experience of how a proper Sunday roast is. The pub is gorgeous and well cared. The food was excellent and the service quick . A highlight for Ania that has an amazing costumer service and a beautiful smile. Well done.
A very pleasant place with friendly service and a calm atmosphere. The menu offered a good variety of dishes, and everything we ordered tasted fresh and satisfying. It’s definitely a nice option for dinner with friends or family.
