What an amazing pub. Fantastic choice of beer, cider, and spirits. Lovely staff and service. Log burner. Inexpensive. Great atmosphere, even for a Tuesday night. I cannot fault it and can understand why it had won awards. Everyone in there looked like they were at home. You seldom feel that nowadays.
THE Real Cider pub, you must visit ! Have been to this amazing pub a few times over the years, love it. Great selection of real ciders and ales, great food. Dog friendly. Has a great beer garden with covered areas. And its an absolute winner as regards real cider, in January 2026 they had 49 flat ciders on offer !!!
Our recent visit to the Tamworth Tap left us with mixed impressions. The queue to get in spoke volumes about their reputation, but as craft beer enthusiasts we left feeling a little underwhelmed. Six craft taps is a decent offering, though the lineup felt somewhat unbalanced - two of the craft options came in at 8% ABV or higher, and two were stouts, which made the prospect of enjoying a few pints a challenge. Add to that a ten-minute wait in the queue every time you wanted to order, and the experience started to lose its appeal. It's clearly a popular spot, and fair play to them for that, but the crowds did take the edge off things. One genuine highlight though - the cider selection was exceptional, and any cider drinker would be very well catered for. Plus the staff were very friendly. Edit: I'd like to address the response from the venue. All reviews are, by their very nature, based on personal experience and personal expectations on the date of the visit - that's the entire point of a review. I'll acknowledge I may have undercounted the taps - if there were 10 craft options rather than 6, I'm happy to correct that. However, the balance issue remained a concern regardless of the total, with multiple high ABV options and stouts making a session difficult. As for the queues being a bank holiday anomaly - other reviews on here mention the same issue, suggesting it's more of a recurring pattern than an isolated incident. 3 stars felt like a fair and honest reflection of our visit - we also highlighted the friendly staff and the excellent cider selection, so I do not believe this was an unfair review. I wish the Tamworth Tap well, but asking customers not to rate based on their personal experience or expectations fundamentally misunderstands what reviews are for.
Love this pub, had our first date here and it has such a great atmosphere, thats why we keep coming back. Huge selection of beer, IPA's, stouts and ciders, could try something new every time you visit. Small selection of food but what they lack in choice they make up for in taste. Highly recommend the frickles. Whether you sit in the bar or in the huge garden you are always welcomed by friendly staff who will do anything they can to make your experience that little bit better.
None food day but service and available beer is amazing. Owner has so much time to express his passion. Superb must-go-to-gaff when in Tamworth.
