What a hidden gem! I had no idea this is a Weatherspoons hotel until I stumbled upon a you tube review of it. It looked great in the video and really budget friendly so I thought I would give it a try.||||I’m so pleased I did, it’s such a nice hotel. The guy at reception was welcoming and very knowledgeable, the rooms were clean and comfortable. I loved the nice biscuits and free bottled water was a nice touch. Bed was super comfortable, and the blackout drapes kept the room pitch black. Bathroom was big, shower water pressure was great.||||Oh and the location is superb, it was a 2 minute walk from the train station.||||I didn’t know Wetherspoons even had hotels until recently, but given how great this one was. I’m keen to try a few more.

The Mile Castle Wetherspoons in Newcastle is a big, lively pub right near the station and city centre. It’s a solid spot for cheap food and drinks, with quick service when it’s not too busy. Can get a bit loud and hectic at peak times, but overall it’s good value and handy for a pre-night-out or casual bite.

Amazing Hotel!|We stayed at the Mile Castle (23-28 Feb 2026) and found this hotel to be of a greater quality than expected. It has been recently refurbished with no expense spared and fine quality fittings. King Size bed was confortable and room maintained a pleasant temperature. Beautiful well equipped bathroom with lots of space, non steam up mirrors and a walk in shower. Everything you might need is there (staff in reception are very obliging if things run out). We had water in our room daily plus tea, coffee, milk and biscuits. Room is serviced as you require. Very clean. We stayed on the 2nd floor and benefited from two large windows to the front - thus making the room very light and bright. There is a large wall mounted smart tv. Lift access to all floors (I took a mobility scooter and found no issues with access)|The large adjoining Wetherspoons Mile Castle pub served an excellent range of food from breakfasts to dinner at the very reasonable prices Wetherspoons is renowned for. An extra bonus was that all day we only needed to show our door key cards for free coffee or tea. The pub gets very well used with a mixed clientele and can be rather noisy at weekends/football matches etc. Personally we appreciated staying somewhere lively and found that staff went the extra mile.|Reception staff gave us helpful additional information and advice re tourist sights and negotiating by metro. |Well done Mile Castle for making our city break a total success at an affordable price. Thanks to everyone concerned.

We stayed at The Mile Castle Hotel for the first time in February. We were overwhelmed as to how brilliant it was. So for our latest trip to Newcastle, to stay a second time was an absolute no brainer. |The rooms are well appointed. They have really comfortable beds. Good blackout curtains to ensure an excellent nights sleep. Two comfy chairs, a desk and hanging area. There are plenty of plug sockets with usb points included. The bathroom is really quite luxurious with good quality hand and body wash included. The room is replenished everyday with fresh towels, tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc and biscuits. The big plus is bottles of water are provided and replaced each day. |Martin and the rest of the staff are brilliant, really friendly, kind and helpful. We would highly recommend staying at The Mile Castle.||Parking: We arrived on a Friday and left on the Monday morning. The LNER long stay car park offer a £15 long weekend park and stay price. Pay by logging into LNERparking.co.uk/#postpay after your stay.

This was our first visit to The Mile Castle and it won't be the last.|We are frequent visitors to Newcastle and have stayed elsewhere in the city on many occasions but The Mile Castle beats them all. It's a great old building re- purposed to an extremely high standard with all the facilities you would expect to find in much larger hotels. Add to this very friendly and helpful staff and you have the perfect place to stay.
