About this Pub

Lady Grey’s

Why it's great for Matchdays

Lady Grey’s is a handy city-centre option for a pre- or post-match pint. It sits by the Theatre Royal and a short walk from Grey’s Monument/Monument Metro, making it easy for travelling supporters to get to and from St James’ Park, which is in the city centre. The pub focuses on cask and rotating local ales (e.g., Allendale, Hadrian Border, Almasty, Full Circle) so beer-minded fans have solid choice at the bar. It also keeps late hours (listed to 3 am), useful if you’re lingering after an evening kick-off. Note it’s not a sports-TV venue, so it suits fans looking for a drink and chat rather than to watch the game on screens.

A top pub for atmosphere late evening. Stylish, retro design with much wooden panelling and big chandeliers. Great music, leaning towards rock style. Fantastic real ale selection with different style of beers. Terrific ambience, some places have 'just got it'. This one has. Late opener and a must to actively seek out in Newcastle.

Smashing Pub. Finally had the cheese and meat platters tonight, bit I've been plenty of times after work at another pub, cos Lady Grays has got a great cask selection and fab service. New Years and Crimbo Eve were so much fun

Slightly off the main street but definitely worth finding if you like a wide beer selection including quite a few cask. There's a broad mix of good quality craft breweries and the mainstream stuff as well to suit most. I didn't try the food on this visit but they sounded like good grazing sharing options for another time. Old school no fuss decor. If you are in the centre looking for a good quality beer in friendly surroundings, this will serve you well

Filthy and stinky and all-together shoddy! Consistent too with the other one-star reviews the attitude of the bar staff is abysmal. My second and final time there saw me being discriminated against by customers owing to the fact I come across as being "Strange". They were quizzing me over and over wanting to know what I was doing there (not a normal thing to do) and then when I would respond they'd give sarcastic comments like "I just stopped listening"-being really daft like that. Really like that for a while and even went so far as to then ask me to leave. I was just sitting there minding my own business. And granted, when a person has brain damage (All in my medical history) that's the way the average ignorant person perceives them to be-"Strange"! Despite their embarrassing blatant denial the male in the group proceeded to walk all the way around the table and sat down right beside me in a particularly ineffective attempt at intimidation as the CCTV clearly shows! Keiron the manager was hopeless and would even go on to ask me to move to another seat as the said 3 customers there were feeling "uncomfortable" by my presence! 🤡 🌍 He had initially threatened to call the police when I rightly refused to move and he seemed surprised when I responded by encouraging him to do so as I was being discriminated against. So he then proceeded to call the doormen and despite me making my case very clear in plain english it failed to wash and they were insistent that I move or "Get dragged out". Just like that and quite disgusting! I did however proceed to move with my drink to the bar to finish it off before leaving but warned them in no uncertain terms I'd be taking legal action against them, which I am attempting to get done, so we'll see how it goes. Scott the doorman would later on be sympathetic which is appreciated but it doesn't change what went before with the staff and those customers. The bar staff and your regular customers should very carefully watch what you say and do as most other people would not have been as calm as I was! I was simply minding my own business having drinks in the place but the next individual may not be. You've lost a customer! How unfortunate. Never had that anywhere before in my life. The place is generally tacky and filthy too, especially the toilets!
