Nice little spoons. Definitely on the small side as spoons good (which is neither a good/bad thing) Came in for a breakfast, and to tick it off the list as spoons 64 visited. Food all good no issues. Drinks also same. Wasn’t busy on a Sunday morning so no wait.
Cheap and microwaved but scrummy yummy chicken and chips. Couch to sleep on in toilets for the ladies. Staff nice, not talkative but thats my dream reality. Loud and rowdy with blokes drinking booze at 11am but thats a weatherspoons for you.
Typical Weatherspoons pub in the centre of Altrincham situated on a busy crossroads. Traditional outside but very modern inside. Floor to ceiling glasses windows along 2 sides. Toilets downstairs. Didn't eat so cannot comment on the food. Good friendly service.
I often visit The Unicorn JD Wetherspoons in Altrincham, usually on a Tuesday evening. However, last week I was in there on Friday evening and was very impressed to see security on the door. The pub was busy with a good atmosphere and it was very encouraging to see that as a good proportion of the clientele were young people (mid-20's+) where from experience, particularly in the City Centre, this can often be a prelude to trouble/loud boisterous behaviour in the premises as the evening progresses. I got into conversation with the two people on the door - both were welcoming, very proactive and certainly took their duties seriously. Pauline, in particular was very impressive and experienced - I believe her colleague was still under training. I noticed that a lot of the younger regulars greeted her on arrival and had their ID ready to be inspected. I was also reassured that when ID's were requested, they were passed across without incident and even more pleasing to see that a number of ID's were confiscated and the people refused entry. From a personal viewpoint, I would highly recommend this pub as a venue on a Friday or Saturday evening as they have such experienced security (Pauline in particular), as a venue to meet up with friends as there is a good atmosphere with varying ages of people all just out for a pleasant drink and enjoying the venue without being on guard in case any trouble is brewing ! Decent quality Wetherspoon on the main street. Particularly good beer choice during the annual beer festival.
