So i was down at Prenton Park to watch my beloved Football team Oldham Athletic play Tranmere Rovers in League 2. So it was my First time drinking in the Mersey Clipper in the shadow of Prenton Park after we had beaten Tranmere 3-1 and i was gasping for a pint and a shot of Tequila(Latics fans will get this). Fantastic pub full of locals, Tranmere and Oldham fans, Polite and friendly staff, The bar is huge inside with car park to the rear, There are a few tables out the back for the smokers and to sit out when the weather is nice out, Fantastic range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks including Zero % alcohol drinks, Pub/bar was spotlessly clean. 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ 5☆ I post alot of reviews on Google and I always give my honest opinion on everything from food, cleanliness, drink, Service, value for money, setting, ambience etc and I have over 46,000,000+ views on Google alone. I'm not a frequent visitor of this place but I must point out how generally unpleasant the latest experience was being here. Last night's meal with my parents was like being in a kindergarten environment. While it's understood this is a family friendly pub, we had dealt with kids running around the place past 8PM which is sign posted that they are not allowed in after that time. Security did not reinforce this policy well enough so here was us dealing with kids running past our table every minute including at one point one of them ran underneath our table. This was unwarranted given our 8PM table time which is when families with kids should have been leaving. I'm not trying to say kids shouldn't be allowed in here at all but during the times when they can be here, parents/guardians need to take more responsibility and safety should be upheld cause how feral they had been during this visit was just an accident waiting to happen. Wouldn't have taken much for one of them to bump into a poor staff member by mistake with their hands full of hot food to carry over. Only reason why I haven't given this place a 1 star is because the food was without any issues and the waitress was very friendly with us. It's a shame our latest experience has tainted us so much that we don't want to come back here. While I understand the behaviour of kids is more the parents/guardians' responsibility than the staff's, we expect the policy of them not being allowed in the premises after 8PM to be upheld and to be advised not to cause potential accidents with running everywhere around the pub.
Came in for the kids Christmas party and had a great time, the kids loved it. The food was amazing as well as the drinks. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. The overall atmosphere was amazing and defiantly will be visiting more often. One of the best pubs I’ve been too for a while and would defiantly recommend as it’s worth the visit.
Sunday evening, ordered Two XL mixed grills, absolutely lovely. Nice atmosphere and would definitely come again. We weren't sure how the parking meter worked but registered inside and all was good...hopefully!!
Went for a few drinks to watch the match the other week and had a lovely time! Got served by a lovely man called Kieron and he was friendly, attentive and funny. Will definitely be coming back again
