The Merlin is a popular pre- and post-match venue for both home and away supporters attending Swindon Town FC games. Located just a 10-minute walk from the County Ground, it offers a lively atmosphere with multiple TV screens showing live football from Sky, TNT, and terrestrial channels. The pub serves hot food daily from 12 to 9 pm, including burgers and chips, and provides themed food nights. It also offers a 10% discount on selected drinks during matchdays when using the Greene King Sports App. The venue is known for its welcoming environment, often frequented by both home and away fans, making it a neutral spot for matchday gatherings.
This is a very nice pub with a good size car park. Inside is quite big with pool tables and 2 dartboards. Outside has a nice covered garden area with a large tv. Staff are friendly. Food is very reasonably priced with specials on certain days of the week. Despite the price, the quality of the food is good. We visited on a Saturday just after noon and it was very quiet. It did get busier by the time we left. We did have a play on the dart board. It was fun. They have an electronic score board too which makes it easier. It was free to use. They do have free to borrow darts behind the counter but if you intend to play, I suggest bringing your own. The pub is well decorated and clean. We had a nice entertaining lunch. Would definitely return. Recommended.
Fantastic pub, ordered few drinks for a table anonymously for Christmas, sparked a great conversation. Amazing place, not from the area but highly recommended. Merry Christmas to those who had the 🍸, enjoy.
Great Value Large Pub. Loads of parking. Dog friendly. Sunday Lunch was great for the price but I think more mash (very small scoop), less roast potatoes maybe & cauliflower cheese option would have been nice. Great beer prices & 2 pool tables. Good location walkable to Swindon town centre. We shall be back.
Me and my fiance went there today for lunch. I understand it's a Saturday so it would be noisy that was not the issue was the food was bland and horrible no number on the table to be able to order food fast. I had to go ask what table the number was before ordering. (Fish and chips and the chicken tikka) They told us they had run out of salt so I wasn't able to put salt on my food, my partner has now come down with a bad case of food poisoning this evening from the chicken tikka. Very very upset and annoyed at how awful the whole time we spent there was!
TVs everywhere for your ultimate viewing experience from any point in the pub. The food is top-notch pub-grub and the staff are very accommodating and friendly.
