Today I was treated to a delicious lunch by my son and daughter in law for Mothers Day. I had the lamb and the sticky toffee pudding. Absolutely delicious, great service, friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
We were visiting Shrewsbury and looking for a restaurant with view of the river. This was highly rated. There was limited parking and we parked in the city center & walked across the Port Hill Suspension Bridge. The ambiance inside and outside the restaurant was lovely. The staff were very nice. We enjoyed the food and drinks.
Lovely riverside pub with great service and a good selection of beers and food. We went a on a lovely sunny day and spent a few hours sipping drinks and watching the boats and rowers go up and down the river. Very nice and well worth a visit.
We’ve finally found our favorite spot in Shrewsbury—and it’s The Boathouse! This place truly has it all: breathtaking views, a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and delicious food and drinks. The location is unbeatable, right by the river with picture-perfect views of the water and the bridge. On sunny days, there’s nothing better than sitting outside, soaking up the sunshine with a cold beer or cider in hand. It’s so peaceful watching the ducks and swans glide by, birds flying overhead, and people kayaking along the river. It really gives you that holiday feeling without ever leaving town. On our first visit, I tried lamb for the very first time and went for the Moroccan Lamb Tagine—absolutely packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. We also had the BH Burger, which was juicy, tasty, and very satisfying. The food overall was fantastic and clearly made with care. The staff were friendly and attentive from the bar to the table. The whole experience—from the scenic setting to the great food and top-notch service—made it one of those places you want to come back to again and again. Whether you’re local or just visiting Shrewsbury, The Boathouse is a must-visit. We enjoyed every minute spent there and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend!
Only positive was the location, lovely setting. First time visiting, website described a partially covered area with heating. This included a ripped fabric roof and 1 out of 5 gas fires lit as the others didn’t work. We gave the staff a cake on arrival to come after food, this was forgotten about and lost. When chased as leaving they said they would get it. 5 minutes later went to look for the young chap who said they were just getting it ready… cake still in the box and bag. Pack of candles missing though. Finest and funniest moment is the adults burger (£16.50) and child’s burger (7.50) were both ordered and came identical apart from 2 slices of gherkin, a leaf of lettuce and a splash of ketchup. Service charge automatically added on the bill with a shocked reaction when asked for it to be removed. Poor service all round, half way through food all 4 drinks were empty and no one around to order more. Staff more interested in talking to each other than working. Menu was limited and presented on a thin piece of paper that was crinkled and wet. Certainly will not be returning.
