A handy pre-match option in Lady Bay: it’s a short walk to Nottingham Forest’s City Ground and Trent Bridge, noted by local guides as ideally located for those venues. On matchdays you can catch televised football here (they’ve shown major tournament fixtures, including England games), so it works for the early kickoff or post-match viewing. The pub serves food throughout the day on weekends and into the evening midweek, making it practical for lining up before or refuelling after the game. It also sits on several bus routes for easy hops to and from the ground, and there’s on-site parking that can help drivers on busier fixtures.
Brilliant Monday evening out at this large and friendly pub. Booked as table needed for six people. Not problems reserving as it’s Monday but I’d definitely recommend booking if weekend of BH. Table 7 - very private and just what we wanted. Great selection of drinks and bar staff friendly and helpful. Felt no pressure to rush our order, Darren very patient server. Very reasonable priced night out too. We split the bill 5 ways as we always do and it came to £24 each including tip and drinks.
We had a 50th Birthday party in function room. The room was ideal and all set up with tables chairs enough for our party. The buffet food was very good. Everyone said the food was very tasty not at all boring...The DJ for the night was great. deputy manager and staff were brilliant. Big thank you for making it special.
Big Castle Rock pub in a residential neighborhood. Big and very good selection of beers. We called in on a Tuesday evening and almost every table was reserved (we were allowed to sit at a table for 1 hour before the reservation time). It was busy for a Tuesday night, but I imagine that would be down to the fact that there aren't many pubs close by.
A nice, big, pub which was once a British Legion club and it's a nice touch that they have kept lots of the memorabilia. Beer is excellent and food is good, my wife particularly liked the sticky toffee pudding. Food is served in the main bar, if you intend to eat I would recommend booking. We did and it all went without a hitch.
The Poppy & Pint is a pub I have visited a number of times. I booked two tables for a large party of people who were from out of town. We pre ordered our food as there were quite a few of us. Every person said their food was delicious. Every dish was fabulous & hot & they arrived at the same time. One of my party mentioned the wonderful atmosphere & another was thrilled by the range of beer choices. Thank you so much to the chefs, the two members of patient bar staff (sorry I meant to ask your names) & Darron who was fabulous at being in touch by email as we prepared our food order in advance.
