Set just off Old Market Square in Nottingham city centre, Malt Cross is convenient for matchdays: the City Ground is a brisk 15–20 minute walk from the city centre, and the pub is also close to tram, bus and rail links. It serves food (including Sunday roasts and a full menu), which makes it a practical pre- or post-match stop. CAMRA notes real ale and meals, and the bar regularly rotates beers, giving travelling fans varied choices.
A great place with a warm inclusive atmosphere. Been for a drink often but not ordered food until Saturday evening, will definitely be doing that again soon. Portions were generous, choices were tasty and our mixed dietary needs were well met - the menu is thoughtful and full of variety. All staff members were extremely friendly and accommodating.
We had a lovely tasting Sunday lunch, although the belly pork was especially thick in fat. Could have been thinner so it was actually edible. BUT it was spoilt by the waiter who brought our meals he was asked if we could have some extra gravy ? His reply was a stern NO. Then he walked away no reason given no apology. He could have said that he will check or it would cost more, which would have been fine. There was no polite interaction. A customer care training is required there. 😠 I also asked him at the bar for the bill, he just informed me how much we owe. Didn't get the bill to check until after we had paid. Not good service, from that individual at all We Wouldn't go back in, if we're going to be served by the same man again.
A superb place for Sunday roast. Foods were tasty and service good. We thoroughly enjoyed the pork belly and beef! They came with generous portion of greens and sides!
Classic place in the centre of Notts. They always have a great selection of cask and craft beers available. One of the best places to have a beer in Nottingham.
It was a great environment to have some drinks after conference as a group of 8 academics. I wish they were open after midnight:)
