Very nice gastro pub. Massive portions and I only scored 4 stars as I went for fish and chips. Fish was tasteless although the size was impressive. Now based on seaside pub I expected better fish. Dirty mushroom fries on the other hand were spectacular. Kids meal includes real chicken breast goujons.
Went in here for a nice meal with the missus and ordered the fish and chips. It’s safe to say the chips could win an award for strongest material on planet earth and the fish I’m sure was just fish flavoured jelly wrapped in what they call batter. Oh and they charged £19 quid a person for the privilege. I can’t stress enough how great the service was on the other hand and how lovely the staff were but £46 for two mediocre meals is crazy.
Really really good burger! Spoilt for choice so took the staffs recommendation and was not disappointed. A little pricey but by the time I finished the meal I had no issues with how much I paid. Will definitely be going back to try the other burgers on the menu!
I really wanted to enjoy my meal here, especially since the staff were genuinely lovely and very accommodating. Unfortunately, the food just didn’t match the service. I ordered a medium-rare sirloin, especially given the higher price, expecting something tender and well-cooked. What I received was overcooked (closer to well-done) and had a lot of fat on it, nothing like the sirloin I ordered. I asked for it to be remade, and the staff were great about it, but the second steak still came out no better than medium. Nearly a third of the meat was fat, and the flavour just wasn’t there. For the price, I expected much better quality and accuracy. Despite the lovely staff working there, the food itself was really disappointing.
Cannot fault this place at all, every single staff member can’t do enough for you they really look after you. The service is incredible, I love that it’s a relaxed atmosphere but the food is still second to none. Eaten here a few times for breakfast, dinner and tea and never had a problem with food and would always recommend to friends and family. I would highly recommend Sunday lunches lovely and filling and very tasty. The 2 for £16 is a brilliant deal on a Friday for fish and chips and you get a huge portion, well worth popping in for. I recently tried the Ribeye Steak and I have mine medium, it was cooked to perfection. Thank you to all of the staff for all of your hard work it’s always a pleasure coming here. Gav, John and Dave are a credit to the pub as chefs the food is always to high standards.
