Possibly the very best pub food I've ever had. And certainly one of the warmest welcomes: if I lived in Upnor I reckon I might never leave the pub (though it's a lovely village, so maybe). Note to self:- it's ok not to eat so much next time π
Over priced for what you get. We had the roasts as a table of five people, two of us had the roast beef which was so tough you couldnβt even cut it and the Yorkshire pudding was awful too. Asked the waitress to take something off the bill as we were not able to eat it, the manager came over (short little bald man) and argued the toss over it and eventually stomped off, swearing under his breath and took a fiver off. Absolutely awful customer service from him and definitely suffered with little man syndrome. The rest of the staff were lovely. Unfortunately we will never be going back there. Wished we had of read the reviews before booking.
Some of the worst food we have ever had from a pub Staff members could have been a bit more welcoming but were nice. The atmosphere was nice and it could be such a lovely place but we payed over Β£200 for a table of 3 for some of the worst food I have experienced. Would be better going literally anywhere else!
This visit was meant to give my French girlfriend a genuine English dining experience. Unfortunately, The Tudor Rose delivered a very dismal example of English hospitality. My friends had travelled all the way from Paris and were looking forward to a traditional roast. Instead, they were met with rudeness and poor service from the outset. The food was extremely disappointing and not at all reflective of the price l, around Β£200 for a substandard roast dinner that felt careless and poorly presented. To make matters worse, they were refused a mince pie that should have been included, which left them confused and embarrassed, especially after such a long journey. This was meant to be a warm, welcoming experience showcasing English culture and hospitality. Sadly, it was quite the opposite. Very disappointing and not something we would recommend to others.
Absolutely fantastic place. Popped in for lunch after visiting the castle. Exquisite garden and the food was fabulous - home made fish pie was lovely and almost wish Iβd had the fish and chips which was a huge piece of fish and loads of huge chunky chips, and my hubby also loved his ham, egg and chips - thick hand carved ham. SO GLAD we stopped there πππ
