Very clean and nicely decorated pub. Went in for a meal and the guy behind the bar was excellent he was working hard as he was on his own. Food was very nice my only critiscm was that my steak wasn't really cooked medium rare as asked but they did offer to replace which they done - still wasn't exactly how I wanted but the rest was great. Mushroom sauce was delicious.
I’ve eaten a lot of burgers, but none have come close to this masterpiece. The moment it hit the table, I knew it was something special. The bacon was perfectly crispy—no chewy edges, no sogginess—just that satisfying crunch that instantly elevates every bite. The meat itself was cooked to absolute perfection: juicy, flavorful, and seasoned so well that it didn’t need anything extra to shine. And then there was the cheese—smooth, melted, and draped over the patty like it belonged there. It tied everything together with the perfect blend of richness and comfort. Every bite felt like the ideal balance of textures and flavors. The experience didn’t stop at the burger. The fries were incredible—golden, crisp on the outside, tender on the inside, and just the right amount of salt. They were the kind of fries you keep reaching for even when you’re “too full.” Overall, this wasn’t just a meal; it was a moment. Hands down the best burger I’ve ever had.
No one immediately available to seat us bar staff discussed between themselves and one came around to take our details and show us to our table. I used QR to order, nice easy system, was a little disppointed to learn the meal I wanted was out of stock (mixed grill). I ordered a steak and a hunters chicken for my mother. Her chicken was not piping hot when served. Chips were hot. My steak was fine, chips were hot, onion rings were hot but very small. Mushrooms were dry and cold. We had sundaes for dessert. No complaints there.
Atmosphere was nice, there was loads of people which is cool. Food was good, prawn cocktail and chicken wings were tasty, steak was good, but order medium rare to get a nice steak. Overall would recommend this place.
We had a good experience at The Mast and Rigging. The staff are friendly and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening. The menu has a great variety, and each dish we ordered was delicious and well-prepared, from the starters to the main courses. You could tell they used fresh ingredients, and the portions were generous. Our meal was complemented by an excellent selection of drinks. We’ll definitely be returning – highly recommend for anyone looking for great food and a warm, friendly atmosphere!
