📍 2.2 miles from Mornflake Stadium
On the outskirts of Crewe in Wistaston (CW2 8SB), the Rising Sun Inn is practical for a pre- or post-match stop: it serves breakfast Friday–Sunday and food all day, so you can get a meal around kick-off times. CAMRA notes real ale is available, with Abbot as a regular and other Greene King beers rotating, giving fans dependable cask options. Practical matchday logistics are helped by on-site parking and proximity to local bus routes (D&G 45 listed by CAMRA). Being a larger Chef & Brewer venue, it offers plenty of seating and a family-friendly setup, useful for groups travelling to/from Crewe Alexandra fixtures, even if it’s a little outside the immediate stadium area.
Visited with family on Boxing Day. The restaurant was almost fully booked all day so we were glad to get a booking. The restaurant was only serving their festive menu which is what we expected. The offer was £28 for 2 courses or £32 for 3 courses. I ordered the vegan wellington and was then told they had run out of that but they could offer a different vegan wellington that was from their normal Sunday menu. The food was delicious but I was slightly disappointed to see that it was considerably smaller than the roast turkey meals. Mine also ended costing slightly more because they didn't include my 'Sunday menu' dish in the festive menu price offer. I was extremely pleased that I could still order the vegan frangipane dessert. It's always great to find places who have put thought into the vegan options - brownies are delicious but it's nice to have something different as vegans like variety too. Frangipane is one of my favourites and it was outstanding.
Came in last week before they closed for referb, staff was so welcoming, very informative and the new menu looked amazing. So many things we wanted to try! Buratta was delicious, chicken burger was juicy. Kids loved the fish goujons & partner enjoyed the camerbert board followed by the Lamb duo! Kids loved making their own fruit sundaes too, such a fun little idea for the kids to finish with!! Service was fast, even when it peaked its hottest temperatures this day! Will be back when the referb is done, can’t wait to see the changes!
Came in 2 weeks ago for a family meal. Sat in the dining area. Table service was fast. Kerrie and Cheryl worked together to ensure we had everything we needed and provided us with the allergen tablet to check what our son could and couldn’t have. Really enjoyed the new menu, lots of choices. Firm favourite of the new signature burger, gutted the lamb shank shepherds pie is gone. Children’s menu had a good choice of food too including curry’s. We loved everything and will be back again soon.
Good food, big selection of beers and drinks and friendly staff!
The food was quite nice, but a severe lack of vegetables with each dish. The gammon had a tbsp of peas, the duo of chicken had a small bowl of kimchi and 2 lengths of cucumber skin and the special sausage and mash had no vegetables at all. It was disappointing really when we're all encouraged to eat a healthy balanced diet!
