📍 0.4 miles from Wham Stadium
Town-centre spot on Abbey Street that shows Sky Sports, so you can catch early/late kick-offs around match time. Food is served daily at lunch and into the evening, handy for a pre-match bite or a post-game roast. CAMRA lists real ale here, with Deuchars IPA as a regular and a changing guest such as Reedley Hallows NZ Pale. WhatPub also notes it's close to Accrington railway station, useful for away-day travel. Football Ground Guide says Accrington town pubs rarely segregate and both sets of fans usually mix, making Black Horse a practical neutral meet-up before heading to the Wham Stadium. The club's own website also names Black Horse Tavern among its local partners for season-ticket 'Champions' perks, underlining a clear matchday link.
Third visit and hasn't disappointed the hot beef sandwich is delicious my partner had the club sandwich without egg and really enjoyed it highly recommended black horse and will be returning
Great cheap meals in a local pub environment. Sky sports tv and pool table. Had the sausage, mash, peas and gravy, which was very good. Didn't book, just presented myself for a table for one. Highly recommended
I had a takeaway delivered by Just Eat from here, I ordered a 'so called' Sunday roast dinner, there was only enough to feed a small child, disgusting value for money! There was more foil tray than food! They should be embarrassed!
Just popped in for a pint. I've not tried the food yet, but it's a lovely looking pub with some nice seating.
We were a party of 12, prebooked, the food was amazing and such a fantastic price, it was clean and lovely decor, however leaving one person on to both bring food out and serve at the bar is absolutely crazy, the lovely lady that served us was run off her feet! She did amazingly and gave us the best service to ask for. But to leave her on her own to run bar and food, especially when there was the music festival on is crazy, shame on the owners.
