This place is *old*, like a walk-in museum. Across the road from the station so very convenient. The staff seem lovely, warm and friendly. The food's pretty quirky, what would have been standard food many years ago. Pies, mash, peas, that sort of thing. The vegetarian options are good. The pie I wanted had run out but just a plain steak pie without ale or stilton might be an improvement, as would vegetarian gravy for the vegetarian options. There is free wifi. Didn't stay there, just called in for a meal.

We eat and drank in the excellent pub. Warm welcome, cracking beer and pleasant regulars make this really worth a visit. Great history too. We devoured the pies, good value!

Great real ale pub opposite Wigan Northwestern station. Wide range of beer and plenty of space to sit down. Has a juke box as well.
