Had a great experience today! Despite waiter mentioning they were low staff, we were served very quickly and recieved our food within 30 minutes. Although some items we wanted were unavailable, staff gave us other options and were apologetic. Vegetable wellington was absolutely lovely, all the vegetables were amazing! Best roast had in a long time! Definitely coming back!!!

Haven't tried any food or drink here as we walked in hoping to get a nice lunch. Had a look around and there was loads of availability (no reserved signs) yet the hostess was very rude and just said nothing is available in a sharp tone. I said how do you know? They said they will have a reserved sign and yet none of the tables do. Absolutely not worth spending my money here if they are going to have a stinky ride attitude like this.

The Chequers is a lovely, picturesque pub, both inside and out, with extremely warm and friendly staff who made me feel immediately welcome. The Sunday roast was very good with it and my selected drinks arriving very promptly. Indeed, the service from my dedicated waitress was excellent throughout, and her very cheery demeanour and attentiveness made the whole experience much more enjoyable. Although I don’t have a name, she served the sole gentleman on a 12.30 reservation on Sunday, 25 May - hopefully, this will be enough info for management to be able to pass on my very positive feedback. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone thinking of trying it.

We took mum out for her 90th birthday This pub is one of those places that just gets it right without trying too hard. You walk in, and straight away it feels easy—good atmosphere, people enjoying themselves, and that comforting buzz you want from a proper night out. The staff are friendly and down-to-earth, quick to help and happy to have a bit of a laugh, which makes a big difference. It feels welcoming without being over the top. The food is exactly what you’re hoping for—hearty, satisfying, and full of flavour. No fuss, just really good pub grub done properly. Portions are generous (you definitely won’t leave hungry), and everything tastes like it’s been made with care rather than rushed out. And then there’s the drinks—plenty of choice, whether you’re sticking to your usual pint or trying something new. It’s the kind of place where one drink easily turns into a few. All in all, it’s just a genuinely good pub. Comfortable, tasty, and somewhere you’ll happily come back to again We were served by Sidney

Went for a lovely walk with my wife and our two year old. We was greeted by a lady behind the bar and a gentleman. We was only looking for cozy drinks, they made our entire experience wholesome. We left the venue feeling fulfilled, we asked there names as we was so happy with our service. Good work to Karen Kyle xx
