On matchdays it screens major sporting events on large screens—including live football—so you can catch early or late kick-offs. It’s centrally located on the Hoe with a bus stop nearby (Route 25) and Plymouth railway station roughly 1.2km away, which makes it a convenient pre- or post-match stop for supporters coming by train. The pub serves food all day with published meal times, helpful for lining up before heading to the game or refuelling afterwards.

Friendly helpful staff, and wonderful food. We had the Sunday roast which was mouth watering The top rib of beef I had was melt in the mouth with a great selection of vegetables and of course roast potatoes. I think booking is a must as it's very popular. We will be back :)
As soon as we walked toward the bar we were welcomed by the guy serving, with a lovely warm smile. Felt really genuine. Ordered our drinks, I had a pint of Bass. The ale was perfect. Our food order came and well, it was amazing. From a perfectly cooked steak to beautiful " on the vine" tomatoes. My daughter had the Gypsy burger, which also looked amazing. She said it was. From entering to leaving, we felt welcome and enjoyed everything.
Nine of us went a couple of weeks back, we had the loveliest time. The staff were welcoming, efficient and friendly throughout the evening. It's a really good menu too and the food came in piping hot and the portions were very generous. We all came away with a big smile and plans to return. Thank you!
Had some really good reports about the food here and our visit did not disappoint. The waitress was very friendly, helpful and responsive. I ordered, in advance, the winter spiced lamb shank in case it sold out. I am so glad I did, it was excellent. The shank sat on bed of mash potato with a mulled sauce which was tasty without being overpowering. The vegetables, which were plentiful were cooked to perfection. My wife had the gammon with chunky skin on chips. Neither of us could finish our plates because the portions were very generous. Waitress immediately provided a take away container. If the food is always this good, will definitely be back soon.
Ignore the previous review… he sounds stuck up. If you are looking for somewhere good to have a few beers and a good meal stop looking… this is it. I came here on the recommendation of someone I met in the hotel bar, all I wanted was a good pub meal and a few beers. I have been on a road trip all around the UK and have eaten at many pubs on the way around… and this is by far and wide the best pub meal I have had anywhere in the UK. Good food, good drinks, prompt and friendly staff… what more can you ask for? Do yourself a favour and give it a go, I don’t think you could be disappointed.
