📍 0.9 miles from Kenilworth Road
In Luton town centre and about a five-minute walk from the train station, The Red Lion is a practical pre-match base for travelling supporters. It shows Sky Sports and TNT Sports on HD screens for early kick-offs and post-match games, and serves food all day, so you can eat before heading out. It’s explicitly listed by Football Ground Guide and fan groups as an away-friendly option, and is about a mile from Kenilworth Road—close enough to walk or grab a short taxi. With multiple bar areas and a beer garden, it can accommodate larger away followings on matchdays.
Incredible food every time! The owners and staff are genuinely so welcoming and friendly. Jessica, vinay, tej was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Prices are really fair for the quality you get too. Honestly can’t find a single fault — this has easily become my favourite local spot for both food and drinks now 😊.
Such a great pub with fantastic new management! Atmosphere and service was friendly & welcoming. Cocktails were perfectly made and we had really attentive staff serving us both at the table and bar. The food menu has a large variety but the best of all is the Indian food menu. We had the paneer, bombay mix, chicken tikka masala and a few other selected veg and non-veg starters. Such tasty food - cannot wait to come back and try other things on the menu. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody! Thanks again!! Xx
We'd been a few times for a drink and a spot of lunch and had seen and smelt curries leaving the kitchen. Thought we'd pop down for a sneaky date night and it did not disappoint. The service from Jess was outstanding and the food was amazing. We ate from the Indian menu and it was better than the local Indian restaurant we have visited for years. The Wings of Heaven were a standout, as was the Tarka Dhaal. We couldn't finish it all as the portions are generous. But they packages it up and threw in another naan, as we were told 'you can't have a curry without a naan to mop it up". Lovely vibe, and super clean. Looking forward to our next visit already.
We didn’t have a room, but a friend and I were out shopping and decided to grab lunch. We went into the Red Lion although the friend said that they used to go there and it wasn’t that good. However we met with new owners who couldn’t have been nicer. He had time to chat and made us feel welcome (I’m fussy about first appearances) We ordered drinks and sat down to order. The menu was full and varied. We played it safe with Fish & Chips and a Burger. I wanted to add to my burger. Which was no problem. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We received our drinks. The manager forgot the black, in my Guinness & Black. But the humour in the interaction made it ok. He also gave my colleague a shot of Brandy as it was their birthday (lovely touch).. waiting for our food, I regretted playing it safe as the food coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing!!! My burger was delicious & my friend’s fish and chips was just as good. The prices were reasonable and I will definitely be back & not playing it so safely next time
For a budget hotel and just 1 nights sleep then its fine I guess.. Staff were lovely and very helpful but the hotel was a different kettle. we were put on top floor. Door handle on inside was so loose we were worried about actually leaving the room.. shower had no temperature gauge so was scolding we couldn't change this. Toothpaste on the bathroom mirror and toilet appeared as though it had been a very long time since it was cleaned. The smell of old dreary room along with dust was unreal. Bedside cabinets falling apart.. the window barely opened and condensation was so bad! Like i said if you're on a budget and it's last minute then I'm sure it would be fine but, I do think you could get better value for your money elsewhere.
