📍 1.0 miles from Kenilworth Road
Pre-match, it’s a straightforward option from Luton station (listed as ~800m away) and is regularly flagged in away-fans threads as a calm, traditional stop. The pub shows televised sport (including TNT Sports), so you can catch early/late kick-offs, and it serves food on Saturday matchdays plus Sunday roasts, which is handy on weekend fixtures. Rotating real ales are a draw for groups who want a proper pint before heading to Kenilworth Road.
I recently visited The Globe in Luton and was quite disappointed. Although there are some positive reviews out there, my experience was entirely different. Let’s start with the garden, which I can only describe as a rat haven. I was shocked to see rodents scurrying around under the decking and near the seating area. This was definitely not the ambiance you want when trying to enjoy a drink outside, it felt more like a scene from a cheap horror movie rather than a welcoming pub garden. When it came to the food, calling it basic is an understatement. I had ordered a meal that was both overpriced and surprisingly bland. I’ve certainly had much better pub food for half the price at other places. The Sunday roast that others raved about must have been a completely different dish, as mine was tough, overcooked, and utterly lacking in flavor. As for the ales, the selection was underwhelming. They had a few options, but none stood out as being particularly good. Overall, the experience felt quite mediocre, which was disappointing given the hype surrounding the place. To top it off, the service fell flat. While some staff were polite, others seemed disinterested in ensuring a pleasant experience. I certainly didn’t feel welcomed or valued as a customer. In summary, I really can’t recommend The Globe if you’re looking for a nice outing. Between the rats in the garden and overpriced, mediocre food, I’d suggest finding another pub. Save yourself the time and money—give this one a miss.
