A large Wetherspoon near Stratford stations and Westfield, the Goldengrove is busy on West Ham matchdays and within walking distance of the London Stadium—making it a practical meet-up before or after games. The pub has TV screens and Wetherspoon advertises live sport, so you can catch pre- and post-match coverage with a pint. Historic away-day write-ups also note it has welcomed both home and away supporters, reinforcing its role as a neutral matchday spot in Stratford.
The pub is very good, spacious, and comfortable. We had a really nice evening overall. There is a great variety of drinks available, and everything was going well until I ordered a Pornstar Martini. Unfortunately, the drink was absolutely disgusting 🤮. After tasting it, I immediately went to the bar and told the bartender that I had ordered a Pornstar Martini, but it seemed like he had made a different drink by mistake. The bartender was extremely rude and insisted that he had made a Pornstar Martini. When I asked him again if he was sure, he replied, “No, I’m not sure.” This is completely unacceptable behavior toward customers. I know how a Pornstar Martini is made and which glass it should be served in. On top of that, the drink was served with a lemon, which is honestly ridiculous 🤣. The bartender’s attitude was very arrogant and unprofessional. I don’t know his name, but he had long hair and was wearing a grey sweatshirt and olive green trouser. I am writing this review only because of this incident. Otherwise, the pub is excellent, and all the other staff members were very nice. I really liked everything about the place except this experience.
I had a very disappointing experience at this Wetherspoon restaurant. The staff member we encountered behaved extremely unprofessionally and aggressively towards us. Instead of handling the situation calmly, he started using inappropriate language, swearing, and even made offensive gestures, including showing middle fingers. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable in a customer-facing environment. Customers expect basic respect and professionalism, regardless of the situation. The incident made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, and it completely ruined our visit. I hope management seriously looks into staff conduct and ensures proper training, because experiences like this reflect very poorly on the establishment.
Great place for breakfast! You order with your phone, the food options are really nice and the coffee refill with many options (Black Coffee, Flat White, Capuccino) are great for the price. They have classic English breakfast options, some scrambled eggs and also American breakfasts. It was a Sunday and many tables with families and friends were drinking beer, and the atmosphere feels nice for hanging out for hours and chatting.
I’ve visited this Wetherspoon many times and usually enjoy it because the staff are friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, today’s visit was very different. One staff member (a larger fair woman working behind the bar) was unnecessarily aggressive. I politely asked for my drinks without ice and requested a separate glass of ice. Instead of responding professionally, she made sarcastic remarks while preparing the drinks, questioning why I wanted ice separately and making comments that felt rude and disrespectful. I paid for my order like any other customer and wasn’t asking for anything free. I also work in a similar hospitality environment, and this kind of behaviour is not acceptable. Even when staff are tired or busy, basic professionalism should remain. This experience completely changed how I feel about the place. One staff member’s attitude can damage the welcoming atmosphere and eventually drive customers away. I hope management addresses this, as poor behaviour like this can harm the pub’s reputation. Very disappointing experience.
I went there yesterday with my friend. We has some nachos, chicken wings and pizza. All the food was really good but pizza was the best. To hangout with friends, this is definitely a good spot.
