📍 0.2 miles from John Smith's Stadium
The Yorkshire Rose is a popular matchday venue located just half a mile from Huddersfield Town's John Smith's Stadium, making it a convenient stop for both home and away supporters. It offers a wide selection of food and drinks, including cask ales and pizzas, and features a stylish patio and beer garden for outdoor seating. The pub has been previously noted for welcoming away fans, though it can become crowded on matchdays, so early arrival is recommended. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}
We had a lovely family meal, the environment was nice and relaxing. It was easy to order using the QR code and service was reasonably quick. The food was good and my teenage boys were happy with the portion size.
First time visiting since the refurb, and unfortunately I have to say the food has really gone downhill and is no longer value for money like it used to be. I do want to mention Clive, who was fantastic — very attentive, friendly and professional. He really stood out, and we couldn’t fault his service at all. Sadly, we can’t say the same for the rest of the team. I was waiting at the bar to order food when someone who arrived after me was served first. When I politely pointed this out, the staff member looked at me but completely ignored what I had said. A simple apology and “I’ll be with you next” would have gone a long way. As for the food, none of us were happy with our meals. I ordered the fish and chips — the batter was far too oily and that was all I could taste. The portion of fish itself was very thick, which some might like, but it felt overwhelming and wasn’t how it used to be prepared here. The chicken platter is seriously overpriced. At nearly £20, I wouldn’t describe it as a “platter” at all. We actually ordered two, so that was around £40 of the bill, and the portion size simply didn’t justify the price. I’ve paid significantly less elsewhere for much more generous portions and better quality. Had I known what you receive for the price, I wouldn’t have ordered it. The meat feast pizza was also disappointing — very large chunks of meat, hardly any cheese, and just not enjoyable. I ended up leaving over half of it. Overall, really disappointing experience, especially considering how much we used to enjoy coming here. Based on today’s visit, we won’t be returning. A real shame — but thank you again to Clive for his excellent service
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a wonderful experience at this bar! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the drinks were excellent, and the whole place had a great vibe. What really made the evening special, though, was the service. Tristan Walton was absolutely fantastic – attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel looked after. It’s rare to find someone who combines professionalism with such a personal touch. I’ll definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great night out.
Really nice visit! Fardin was an absolute star – so welcoming and chatty. The place has a really decent vibe, calm and comfy. Thoroughly enjoyed it, cheers!
Only gave the food a 3 because it’s just very basic commercial pub food. Cheap and cheerful. Delicious if that’s what you’re craving! Wasn’t anything super special but definitely would eat here again. The staff are lovely. Sarah was bringing our food out and she was lovely. Really attentive and happy to help. Would return again just for the customer service. The atmosphere was really nice. We went late because we got some great vouchers through the post (keep an eye on their offers) and there was boxing on at the same time so after eating we had a few drinks and watched the match. Wasn’t overly busy but still a great environment. Would defo recommend!
