First time trying the roast here and it didnt disappoint! Focaccia and olives great too. There was quality and freshness of ingredients, presentation and dishes are properly priced...good to have Chef Dalton's food again and after we tried the Bearslake Inn, as he was at the helm there couple of years back... Only nag is - it would be great for the server to pour the wine instead of just dropping the glasses and the bottle at the table. That was the odd part of an overall excellent meal and friendly and welcoming service.
βββββ 5 Stars β The Hour Glass, Exeter We had the most wonderful experience at The Hour Glass in Exeter today. From the moment we walked in with our little dog River, we were welcomed so warmly. Our waitress, Casey, was absolutely incredible β genuinely one of the best waitresses weβve ever had. She instantly made us feel at home, even sharing a sweet story about her own little chihuahua, which made the whole experience feel so personal and friendly. Itβs rare to meet someone who can balance professionalism with such warmth, but Casey truly delivered both. The roast dinner was delicious, perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was cosy, relaxed, and dog-friendly, which made the whole visit even more enjoyable. Thank you, Casey, for being so attentive, kind, and just an all-round lovely person. You made our Sunday roast feel special. We will definitely be returning! ππΆπ½οΈ
This pub was already on our radar as an entry in the Good Beer Guide and it didnβt disappoint. Warm welcome, very well kept beer and chilled atmosphere. Sadly canβt vouch for the food as we had a few other pubs to get to - definitely one for a revisit when we are back in Exeter.
This really is the perfect pub for a pint and chat early doors on a Saturday lunchtime. Restored to a high standard and serving a fine selection of cask ales locally brewed in Exeter. A well deserved entry to the Good Beer Guide.
I went to the hourglass for my friend's birthday on 25th May this year with a number of fellow vegans. Staff were all absolutely delightful and very helpful and accommodating. Vegan food options were amazing and very original. None of the usual "risotto" and burgers. Such talented chefs. Would be great to see more vegan options on the menu the rest of the year. Thanks for a great evening π
