Samuel Jones is a popular spot for both home and away fans due to its central location near Exeter Quay and proximity to St James Park. The pub offers a welcoming atmosphere, showing live football on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, including major tournaments like the Women's Euros. It serves a range of food options from midday until 9:30pm, including local specialties like West Country mussels and steak frites. The venue also offers a selection of local and craft beers, making it a favored choice for pre- and post-match gatherings.
Good food, even better location. Plenty of outdoor seating and great views up and down the river. Service was very attentive and fast food nicely cooked and presented. Place has a bit of a sports bar feel. We will definitely return.
On my first visit to Exeter two years ago a couple of my cousins (Jones side. Samuel Jones is a 1st cousin 3x removed up) encouraged me to visit the Samuel Jones Restaurant. I had a couple of mugs of beer then. Today marks my second visit to Samuel Jones. I had a wonderful brunch.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had the most unexpectedly wonderful experience at Samuel Jones today, and I really wanted to share it. The manager on duty, Matt, along with the absolutely lovely Ella May, went out of their way to organise a surprise dessert with a candle to celebrate a child’s academic achievement. This was done entirely on the house, with such genuine warmth and kindness that it completely took us by surprise. There was no obligation, no fuss, just a heartfelt gesture from a team who clearly care about people. The moment was incredibly touching and meant far more than they could possibly know. This is a truly family-friendly place with staff who go above and beyond simply because they want to. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and full of humanity. Huge thanks to Matt, Ella May, and the whole team for turning an ordinary visit into a memory that will last a lifetime. Highly recommended.
I visited last night and had a genuinely wonderful experience. The Samuel Jones was spot on, and I treated myself to a roast that was absolutely delicious — well worth the extra. Charlotte, the manager, recommended a Coniglese Spritz, and it was incredible; the perfect drink to round off the evening. Overall, it’s a fantastic venue with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an unbeatable location. A really great experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Located at an excellent spot in the quays, this large and well appointed bar and restaurant was head and shoulders above everywhere else here. Great to watch sport, a g cool outside bar area and the service was totally on point. A real gem.
