A wonderful birthday dinner for my son! We visited this restaurant for dinner to celebrate my son's birthday. The atmosphere was incredibly warm and pleasant, making us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in. The staff were very friendly—special thanks to the lady who served us; her kindness really made our evening special. The food was absolutely delicious! On top of that, we were able to enjoy the great food and ambiance at a very reasonable price thanks to a discount. It was a truly happy time for our family. Thank you so much for celebrating my son’s birthday with us. We will definitely be back!
This place is amazing! We randomly stopped here for lunch and we were surprised how efficient and friendly Stuey the bar manager was. I'm pretty sure the staff must be all ex military as they ran this place like clock work. This place was packed out on a Friday morning. The food tastes great and everything was fresh and delicious. We shall return one day....
My experience at Marstons in Pinhoe started well—drinks and starters arrived quickly, and the food itself was good. However, after finishing the main course, the waitstaff disappeared for over an hour with no check-ins, and our plates were almost taken away without interaction (walked away by themselvers to the kitchen to wash themselves....) Only after catching a waitress’s eye did she return. The dessert service was worse. One dessert contained a long black hair, and one of our group, who has severe allergies, was repeatedly assured a dessert was vegan—only to be told afterward that it wasn’t. Thankfully, there was no allergic reaction (He took antihistamin right after + water to prevent it). The desserts were eventually removed from the bill, so we received a refund, which was the right thing to do. However, no apology was given by any staff member or the manager, neither for the hygiene issue, the allergen risk, nor the long wait!!! (They even said that they priorizized another tables as they had to go back to work.. - khm.. we also had to go back to work...and we arrived earlier than those tables, but nevermind...) With 20 years of hospitality experience myself, I can say this level of service, lack of empathy, and disregard for food safety is unacceptable. Management and staff clearly need better training and attention to customer care.
We came to the pinhoe hoard we ordered over the app there was about 10 of us. There was about five minutes between each order. My order came out first everybody else had to wait another 20 to 25 minutes before their food came out. They had ordered starters and mains their mains came out before their starters, so therefore all their food went cold. We had five children and one baby the baby seat you couldn’t make secure for the baby so Mum had to hold baby on her knee. One young girl that was serving today was absolutely amazing. She was working the bar when we came in and then served our meals. She was rushed off her feet absolutely Exhausted when I went to complain to the manager he didn’t engage until I walked over to the young girl to ask her if she was okay and then he sent her outside for five minutes. I find this absolutely disgraceful disorganised and won’t be coming again.
Steak was under cooked so sent back then when meal was returned couldn’t chew the streak, the bread was hard it was very disappointing
