Server was super attentive, fussed over our dog, brought treats and a bed for him. So I was sold from that. Food arrived, not too soon not too late, and oh my what a marvel it was. Simply the wife said " best roast she had EVER had", for a Yorkshire lass that is a blood statement. We had our wedding reception here 18 years ago and everyone went above and beyond for a remarkable and memorable day. So good to see it has not changed. And please don't change, very few get it as right as the City Gate does.

Had the sharing roast dinner for two. Excellent on all fronts. Top notch meat, delicious veg and superb gravy and sauces. Topped off with a big Yorkshire pudding. Service from the very friendly Harriet was fantastic too. Highly recommend.

This was our second visit to City Gate in the past few months, and once again our stay here couldn’t be faulted. We were checked in by the lovely Maisie who is always smiling! The room was beautiful, clean and cosy and we will always be requesting room 5 for our future stays! Wonderful place & the best team to be looked after!!

First visit to this amazing venue. I cannot fault it in anyway. In fact I have booked for next week. Food is fantastic, freshly cooked using local produce. Service from the staff was fantastic even though it was really busy. Brilliant place to watch the six nations.

I booked the Cellar bar for my 40th birthday and it was honestly the most perfect setting for it. Private, plenty of space, separate space for dancing and seating. Everyone had the best time and Jon was a delight to work with. Thank you. Xxx
