The Blue Ball Inn is a popular pre-match destination for rugby fans due to its proximity to Sandy Park, home of Exeter Chiefs. The pub offers a warm welcome, a cozy interior with a log-burning fire, and a spacious beer garden. It serves a diverse menu crafted by a Michelin-trained head chef, featuring seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The venue also provides ample parking and is accessible via nearby train stations, making it convenient for matchday visitors.
Came in to the Blue Bottle for a 'casual' dinner, Friday evening. What a lovely Pub, full of character, very cosy & comfortable, extremely friendly staff & great food. My only disappointment was the cost of a bottle of malbec £37 (in a pub). But, apart/despite the cost of the wine, we had a really lovely evening 😀
Brilliant food. So good we went back the 2nd night. Possibly one of the best steaks I've had. Abbey was brilliant. Remembered us and our drinks, friendly and just lovely
From Northumberland called in when stopping at the marriot 5 mins walk away.. very friendly superb food.. highly recommended. Fab selection of drinks too
I went there with my friend for a meal. I have been there several times , but so far it was only drink. I had delicious and very original burger, nice gin and lovely limoncello tiramisu. Everything was really well presented. The service was great. When I asked to not add something to the burger they didn’t mind at all. They just changed their menu so there was a small wait this time but we didn’t mind. The place is bigger than it seems and I like the decor and toilets inside. There is quite a lot of vegan dishes, which are not my cup of tea, but there are still dishes that I wouldn’t mind to try.
We chose to eat at this pub due to its very close location to Sandy Park. Due to our visit on a match day we pre-ordered our food. This did not detract from the quality. There were 12 of us in the group and everyone's food was very good. The serving staff were very busy but remained professional and courteous at all times. The pub has parking available for their customers. We paid to leave a couple of cars with them during the game. It was all very well organised and saved a lot of hassle. There is an outdoor covered area in the garden, very close to the pub. It has a bar which was open. There was also a TV showing the England rugby game but we couldn't see the screen from our seats as other people chose to stand in front of it. We've already reserved our table for the next game we want to see at Sandy Park. Would definitely recommend.
