Absolutely disgusting we arrived after pre booking at 5pm Saturday. We were told there was no bitter available!! This is supposed to be Marstons flagship pub and there's no Pedigree available and was told this happens regularly. So to the food, I had the mixed grill and my partner had the prawn salad. The salad was supposed to come with tomatoes, missing, brown rice, missing, quinoa also missing!!! My mixed grill had an over cooked inedible egg! My gammon was just fat very little edible meat. The chicken was chewy and very small. My side of cheesy garlic bread was dry and hard!! inedible. All round very poor experience.
A traditional English pub. Service was a bit slow and the kitchen was closed at that moment (not a problem for me). The local beer was good. It's a bit noisy, but I guess that's normal when there's a match on TV. Prices are OK. Some of the customers inside were not very friendly towards one of my friends for no reason.
Booked last minute for NYE food and drinks for a family of 8, when we arrived there was some confusion as it was 8PM and the kitchen was closing, it didn't look like we would be able to have a meal.... within 15 minutes the staff had sorted a table out for us and set everything up, we all ordered and had 8 absolutely fantastic meals, we all commented on how good the food and service was. Big thank you to all the staff and chefs for making it a great evening, well done keep up the good work, the new layout of the Pub is also amazing, really good job from the management team, well done and thank you.
I Pre - booked a table for 7 guests for a pre determined time. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived and a staff member had to move tables and chairs to accommodate my booking. When finally seated things went from bad to worse. We all ordered using the app as we were not approached by a staff member asking us for our preferred choices from the menu. After ordering on the app (Q.R code on table) we were approached by a staff member who advised our food wouldn’t be served for at least 45/60 mins. On arrival our Sunday roasts were served cold , vegetables hard and cold - overcooked chicken , tough beef , cold Yorkshire puddings and cold potatoes, minimal gravy, and dry turkey, stuffing balls like pebbles. We didn’t bother ordering a sweet as we could be bothered waiting for another disaster or waste more time. Other people were voicing their disappointment and walking off. I would not have rated this restaurant service with any stars if I could and will not be visiting again , nor my guests. The only positive I could offer was to the poor waitress who had to keep apologising for poor service to other guests. I would seriously consider another option if you are looking for a better dining experience. Date of visit 14/12/2025 Time of visit : 13:00 p.m
Came in for Sunday dinner got seated really quickly but had waited nearly an hour for food for it to come out looking like the roasts had been sat under a heat lamp for most of the day . The potatoes looked dehydrated and were inedible as you couldn’t even get a fork through them and the beef was really tough and grisly and came out with cranberry sauce. The staff didn’t look like any of them wanted to be there and didn’t care about much either . Tables are also really closely packed together near the window were we had to move the tables and chairs to be able to get in and also again to let another table out .
