Great beer selection - just a shame about the grumpy git behind the bar. I've been in here multiple times and have seen how he makes people feel actively unwelcome. (Notice how all the 1-star reviews are only about him!) Yes, this place is central, but there are alternative places in town with real ale and much friendlier pub managers.
Perfect balance of fantastic beer and ambience. Cosy, great music, little corners to settle into. Great find π
Decided to give this pub a try while in Bradford and wow it was brill, They had 7 flat ciders on which was a nice find. It has lovely open brick vaulted ceilings with lots of subtle lighting. Nice friendly welcome. I will deffo be visiting again next time I in Bradford.
Quite the place to have a quiet drink. Good piped music that doesn't intrude. A great mix of ages for a Craft Bar that doesn't do all modern citrusy hazy strong ales. The Cathedral Gold was just to my liking. Stronger ales are possible as well as pression keg lagers. Ales rotate and vary. Those attached were available over two evenings. Good selection of wines. Tanquerey gin was good amongst others. Local football supporters met for the prematch beers, commercial travellers, networkers etc all adequately catered for. Food is available as an assortment of pies. Special evenings occur - Flemish Fridays. A really great pub in the city centre. CAMRA affiliated. 50p off your cask ale price if you show your card. Good friendly staff.
I had an enjoyable hour here last night with an atmosphere to match. Served by Andy, a pleasant and enthusiastic bartender that knows a bit about ales and craft beer. He nominated their most popular beer (Lost in Ikea) and allowed me try another very good one next to it. I settled for two Lost in Ikea's. Friendly locals and a gem of a place, giving it a feeling of a cave bar.
