Alex and team are always friendly, welcoming and attentive. They are knowledgeable about their stock, which is always vast. There is something for everyone. They're passionate about what they do and I wouldn't want to see anyone else running this place. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My favourite pub in Colchester.

The absolute home of real ale and cider in Colchester. Alex and the rest of the team are some of the nicest people you'll meet, and always ready to make recommendations based on their intimate knowledge of everything on offer. If you enjoy trying something new and like a good traditional pub with people who care about what's in your glass, I don't think you'll find better in the whole of Essex.

Great little pub. Great choice of beers. Staff were very helpful with beer and wine selections. Fantastic live music too.

If you want the REAL pub experience come here. Richard and his team know! With craft beers, real ales and something on the guest pump they know how to cater for a discerning crowd. Games, quizzes, entertainment and a very sociable crowd this place hits the mark. Excellent beer garden too! Keep up the good work.

One of the best pubs in Colchester and the area. Cozy and traditional with a fantastic range of changing craft and cask beers and friendly chatty staff. Not sure if this place does hot food but bar snacks are available. Nice looking scotch and other whiskeys available as well as wines, ciders, lagers etc... Nice range of Belgian beers also available too. Time passes very quickly in here. Short walk from both Colchester (mainline),Colchester Town stations and the town centre. Will definitely return. For beer people this pub is also Untappd verified and has its own badge too.

Very good pub and friendly 👌 And the best thing you can go across the road get a pizza 🍕 or fish and chips 🍟,eat it in the pub with your favourite beer 🍺 just one rule take your rubbish 🗑 and put in a bin outside when you finished eating 😉

Nice choice of beer in a cosy establishment. It does indeed feel like a 'proper pub'. Beer was well kept and decent price. I honestly can't fault it. Ended up here after a cycle ride from Norwich and it was a welcome stop off!

Really good selection of cask and keg beer, there really was something for everyone, very interesting fridge choices of bottle and cans, very comfortable atmosphere, definitely will return here, especially to explore that beer fridge.
