The William Gunn

Why is The William Gunn good for fans?

Right by Trent Bridge and a short walk from Nottingham Forest’s City Ground, The William Gunn is a convenient pre-match stop. The pub actively shows live football (e.g., promoted Euros coverage) and is listed on a TV-sport finder, so fans can catch early kick-offs. On match days they serve food across the day (breakfast, lunch and evening), making it practical for different kick-off times. Local Forest fans also recommend it among the closest pubs to the ground, which reflects its busy home-matchday atmosphere.

The William Gunn truly exceeded our expectations! We were looking for a dog-friendly pub where we could relax, enjoy good food, and settle into a cosy corner—and this place delivered on all fronts. We were seated in a wonderfully snug spot with warm, dim lighting, and our dog was warmly welcomed with a large bowl of water, which was a lovely touch. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout. The only downside was the wait time—it took nearly 50 minutes for our meals to arrive. Because of that, we decided to skip dessert, as we didn’t want to end up spending over three hours there. That said, everything else was excellent, and we’d definitely return (just maybe when we’re not in a rush).

This pub is outstanding. It is really modern and it has only been open a few months. I went for Sunday lunch with my dad and I have to say it was outstanding. It was really tasty and delicious. I had a cauliflower cheese as a side order and this was really nice. Then I had to finish off with the sticky Toffee Pudding with custard for dessert. We'll what can I say it definitely got my taste buds going and it was superb. I would definitely recommend it to everybody x x

Great Sunday lunch. Only downside football was on,and table's aren't away from all the standing customers standing at the bar. It was a bit noisy when sitting with family and children, and customers hovering around quite near our dinning table

Stylish and pleasant modern pub in Nottingham, close to Trent Bridge Stadium and the river Trent. The pub owners say that they have 2 or 3 cask ales on all the time (see reply), maybe it was too late in the evening (I had just left the Robin Hood Beer Festival) or I didn't look close enough, because I didn't see them. If you're looking for a place to hang out and relax and can abide by mostly lagers on offer, The William Gunn is actually very nice - especially the outside seating area on a mild autumn afternoon. Friendly staff.

Great little bar across from Trent Bridge Cricket ground, showing live sports and serving good beer and food.

Came here for lunch on Sunday, we all really enjoyed the food and Jute IPA. Love how it looks inside, great atmosphere and outdoor seating 🤩 Will have to come back next time we’re in WB!
