The Western is within walking distance of both King Power Stadium (Leicester City) and Mattioli Woods Welford Road (Leicester Tigers), and is highlighted as a meeting point for sports fans heading to games. On match days it has a buzz of local football and rugby supporters, making it a handy pre-match stop. The pub serves food (lunchtime and evening meals) and regularly offers Everards ales such as Tiger and Sunchaser, which appeals to match-going fans looking for a pint and a bite en route. TripAdvisor’s venue blurb also flags it as ideal for City or Tigers match days, reinforcing its role as a neutral, pre-game spot for supporters.

One of Leicester's oldest surviving pubs which remains it's ancient charm. Good venue for upcoming local bands 🎸

The service i got each time I visited was a friendly one. The bartender is always willing to hear you out. They sometimes have events to spice up the day for clients. For me, the '3 for £10' drink bundle works perfectly well. You can go out on a pub date here and you'll be fine. The garden inside seats is about 10 to 20 people capacity, so you could feel the fresh air or have your fad there if you wish.

The best pub theatre space I have ever been to! What a welcoming, warm and well-loved space. This theatre is run by volunteers and brings a fantastic variety of shows to its stage, and the pub below is great for a pre or post show drink 😊 Highly recommended.

Had some great nights at this pub over the years. Recently, the best nights there have usually been the open mic on a Wednesday evening, which features some brilliant performances from local talent and, on occasion, even some from further afield. Highly recommended.

The bartender was impolite because I wasn’t a local. She acted like she couldn’t be bothered. She was too involved with her mates sitting at the bar. The beer was great, but the vibe was uninviting. The pub was nice, but I felt like I was not welcomed.
