The Strawberry

Why is The Strawberry good for fans?

Directly opposite St James’ Park, The Strawberry is a classic pre- and post-match pub that gets packed on match days. It shows live football throughout the bar (including NUFC games) on multiple TVs, and there’s an upstairs covered roof terrace with additional screens for big-game spillover. Food is served all day (main menu to 8pm), making it easy to grab something before heading to the turnstiles or after full-time. While it’s very much a Newcastle-themed venue, reputable guides note that away fans are generally admitted, so it works as a lively, convenient spot for both sets of supporters on matchday.

Myself and my son went here before the Newcastle v Athletico Madrid game. Atmosphere was fantastic, staff were so friendly and other punters very welcoming. We tried the two pinter beers, which were great. Would defiantly be back, it's a definite stop for any Newcastle United fan

Great way to escape to another time in this old watering house. Newcastle United paraphernalia is the mainstay of decoration for obvious reasons, but the pub is still old school for an area that is modernising. Fun fact: apparently it was so named for the strawberry plantations that used to be near it. Nuns from the local convent use to grow strawberries for strawberry wine...

Visited the pub for the first time yesterday. The pub has a oldie world charm the minute you walk thru the door. The barmaid with the glasses made us feel very welcome considering we're from out of town. The pub is deced in black & white Newcastle memorabilia which is fantastic to look at and see. Will definitely be back as soon as possible.

Gordie's spiritual home, as far as pubs go. Warm welcoming with loads of fab memorabilia to gaze at while supping your pint.

Walking past me and the wife called in. Even though I am not a football fan, the place was impressive. Atmosphere and the collection of old photos and 'gadgets' connected to the club is breathtaking. 5/5

Quaint little pub with a decent selection of local ales along with your everyday pub choice of lagers, beers etc and they serve food as late as 9pm which is handy I ordered a beefburger on going back twice in one day and the price of the food for what you get is very satisfactory. They also sell merchandise behind the bar so I bought myself a pin badge whilst I was there. Staff were courteous and polite and will visit again when staying in Newcastle. Thanks from Fife.
