The scratching post is a modern style bar in a very popular area with two other pubs almost next door. With a wide variety of beers, lagers, and cider. Sadly, there are no cask conditioned real ales. The staff are nice and friendly. There are TV screens and an outside seating area.

A diverse clientele in there, some to watch the world cup, others just having their usual drink, a great little pub with no trouble and a great atmosphere. Apart from the world cup comments its still a great little bar, I was in Friday evening, very busy, and Sunday afternoon, got busy for the Newcastle/ Man U match but still a great atmosphere with excellent staff.

Tried very hard to politely catch the attention of the young lady who was serving outside to get a second drink but no matter how much we Tried to get her attention she seemed to want to serve everybody around but not us.
After waiting for what seemed a very long time the final straw was when she walked straight past our table and asked two ladies on the very next table if they would like another drink, that is when we decided to take our custom and money elsewhere.

Very much a locals bar, friendly with good pricing. STILL A LOCALS BAR, I was made welcome as a visitor. Enjoyed the banter. Not for faint-hearted lol.
