This is a pleasant pub which is still fairly quiet around lunchtime with quick service. The Katsu chicken burger with sweet potato fries was amazing and I would absolutely recommend. However, it is worth noting that the macaroni cheese was a little different from my expectations as I expected and oven baked mac n cheese with a crispier top however this was not the case.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Scholar Arms in Southampton, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy meal.
I ordered the fish and chips, and it was simply outstanding. The fish was perfectly battered and fried to golden perfection, flaky and tender on the inside. Paired with crispy chips, it was a classic dish done right. But what truly took it to the next level was the curry gravy. Rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice, it added a unique twist that I didn’t know I needed. It complemented the fish beautifully and made for a delightful combination.
The service was attentive and friendly, making us feel right at home. If you're in Southampton and looking for a place that serves top-notch fish and chips with a creative flair, The Scholar Arms is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and try more of their menu!

The Katsu chicken burger, fries and onion rings was my choice and it was very tasty.
I hadn’t had this before but I’m glad I did and recommend it for the slightly spicy flavour. It’s not too spicy but it’s a good amount of heat.
The venue is good for meals and plenty of seating, tv’s for sports and all you’d expect from a Greene King pub. Good service and staff at this visit were attentive.
It has an outside area with seating and tables that is perfect for catching the summer sun 😎

A pleasant and large pub which is a relaxing retreat for an afternoon drink at the weekend. It’s spacious with plenty of different seating types depending on your group size. The service at the bar is friendly and fast, with a good range of options available at sensible prices. Everywhere including the toilets is clean and it’s a good traditional option in the centre of the city.

Cannot praise this venue enough. We went for a work Xmas meal. No cost to reserve but still treated like we had paid upfront with crackers and sweetie boxes. It was a lovely surprise!!
Lucy and Kieran were fantastic
Food was fantastic... especially their festive menu.
Food and drinks were all decent prices.
Blue light discount was an extra bonus.
Will definitely be returning

They were very attentive with the gluten free/non gluten options. However, the table I was with had regular food. Half of our table got their food (4), and 4 of us were left for about 45 minutes. By the time they were done eat, we got their meal. I appreciated how much they put into my gluten allergy accommodation, but the service was almost non-existent. Ideally, they would have the regular meals done first then my gluten free meal. They did make up for the situation by offering a free round. Overall, they were very attentive and tried to make up for the situation as a member of our table went up 3 times to check where the food was
