Newly reopened pub in Halifax. Whilst the food menu is limited everything we've had has been excellent and they have a daily carvery. Service is always friendly and quick, will definitely be going back

The team at Duke have done an amazing job at revamping. We ordered mozzarella sticks, mushroom risotto, the Duke burger, Eton mess and the brownie. Amazing new menu, all cooked beautifully. Shoutout to Assiyah down in the kitchen, and Ash, Omi and Ben on the bar. Thank you for a fab lunch, will be back again soon! X
Shared to tripadvisor and sharing here too.

When we arrived we were told we might have to wait up to 40 minutes for the food. As the atmosphere was good and it was quite busy so we thought why not. The lady who looked after us Sarah was lovely and took our orders quickly. She did say they would try their best to bring the food out asap but 40 mins was an estimate. At the end we waited just under 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Sarah made sure we were okay and checked if we were happy. She also talked to our children and they had a good laugh. It was busy but the quality of the food was really good. The portion size was huge and we all enjoyed what we have ordered. We were so happy that we did give extra tips and Sarah was so grateful telling us that she would ensure the chefs get their share too.
Overall lovely service.

Now serving a carvery (vegetarian options are available) 7 days a week plus other meals. A large pub in a traditional style. We didn't eat here but the food that was coming out looked good. A good selection of alcoholic and soft drinks.

Visited this place for lunch before our UB40 concert.and the service by a young man called Ben was amazing. He was very attentive asking if everything was ok. And if we needed anything else. The food arrived quickly and was hot. The quality was very good and affordable will definitely be revisiting.. Thank you to all the staff for the lovely chilled atmosphere in house.

Absolutely horrendous place AVOID!!! Whoever has taken over couldn't run a bath!
Came in for a carvery the other day as advertised as their new main feature open 7 days a week only for it not to be on because someone hadn't order vegetables!!
Absolute joke, how can you not have vegetable in? They couldn't just go down the road to the indoor market to buy some fresh veg on the day? And from what I've heard we were lucky it wasn't on as it is just bog standard nasty low quality grool.
On top of that the self serve coffee machine was out of order too and the attitude of who I assume is the manger was terrible! They've taken over this place, slapped some paint on it, raised the prices massively, lowered the quality and just give a overall terrible experience!
There's a Wetherspoons 2 seconds up the road or many fantastic independent places to go in Halifax for actually decent food instead!
AVOID THIS RUN DOWN OVERPRICED POORLY RAN HOLE AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!

Absolutely love it here. Love when a place says dog friendly and actually is. Staff came up to say hello, brought him a bowl of water. And made a fuss of him. Food was good too and drinks reasonably priced. All staff were friendly and polite. Can't wait to come back
