Stopping in the area for a couple of days, so went here twice for lunch. Very nice food, staff seemed pleasant. Loved the allergen electronic menu, so easy to use and more useful than places that hand you a book to go through.
Only negative is the staff on ordering food don't ask if anyone has any allergies as this is a must as they are supposed to implement it on their system when putting through food order.. I have Coeliac Disease, I had checked allergy menu so new what was safe. But it should be put in on their system to alert the kitchen chef to make sure they are careful of preparing the meal for that allergy.

One of the better wetherspoons pubs in a great setting. A real ale paradise for the real ale men/women. The ales are kept in pristine condition and their bottle condition ales and lagers are superb. The staff make you very welcome and the wetherspoons food is excellent. This was a favorite place of mine but as I no longer drink due to health issues I miss this pub and the staff and friends who visit most days. The weekends can be very busy like the Friday and Saturday but you should visit this pub as you will enjoy your night out. I wonder if the pub is haunted by the old headmaster as it used to be an 18th century school he would get a shock if he came back and see what is beloved school looks like now. The pub is well worth a visit and a great place to meet friends for a great night out.

Serves a very nice pint, but be prepared to queue at busy times.
Food is standard 'Spoons fare, but they always seem to take care with presentation and serve it with a smile.

I thought the customer service was rubbish to be honest I came in with my friend and his girlfriend and we was just laughing at the bar and then one of the bar staff with glasses and brown hair mid 20s was very disrespectful and cocky saying things like βyour childishβ and with my fiance working in hospitality herself I know she would never act this way to any customer so why is she. made my experience not very nice when knowing we got spoke to like that

Only reason 4 stars for service is that first 2 drinks and peanuts we ordered took about 20 mins to arrive. The server apologised, which was nice. The next drink took literally about 30 seconds.

been in this pub few times, the service was friendly, the quality of meals were basic , with that price you are not expecting too much. chips were crispy, chicken wings were plenty. beaware some meals are including drinks. good selection of drinks and their prices were low. guinness was Β£2.58 a pint. other pubs in peak district you won't even get half a pint. tea and coffee are refillable it was only Β£1.02.

Sorry to say but I've been to far better weatherspoons and I don't rate this place at all. You never expect food to be great in these places and they certainly lived up to that expectation. The facilities (toilets) in here seem to be from the dark ages , come on spend a bit of money and get this place sorted.
