Why is The Bishop Blaize good for fans?

Right by Old Trafford, The Bishop Blaize is widely recognised as a Manchester United matchday hub, historically drawing the club’s most passionate supporters before kick-off. That makes it a quintessential home-fan stop for pre-match songs and atmosphere. On TV, the pub shows live sport (Sky Sports listed), so early arrivals can watch other fixtures. As a Wetherspoon, it serves a full food menu, useful for early kick-offs and for lining up before heading to the ground.

Good food, very affordable! appropriate portions, good atmosphere even if you're not a ManU fan (like myself lol). It was a bit crowded as expected and you should sit yourself and order in the bar but they'll bring the food for you.

Great pub. Just yards from United's Old Trafford so it is of course a massive red pub with loads of interesting United pictures on display. Inevitably gets packed on match days but the staff are superb; friendly and efficient. Also close to the other Old Trafford, home of Lancashire CCC. Our meals were good quality and excellent value. The usual superb choice of cask ales. There are other pictures and details of the local history. Named after a previous pub of the same name on the site in the C15th.

Pub Review near Old Trafford, Manchester ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ If you're visiting Old Trafford and looking for a classic British pub experience, this place hits the spot. Just a short walk from the stadium, The Bishop Blaize offers a solid mix of comfort food, good beer, and a lively football atmosphere — especially on match days. 🍕 Food The pizza was surprisingly good for a pub – generous toppings, crispy edges, and nicely balanced flavors. Perfect for sharing with a pint. The fish and chips were classic – golden, crunchy batter and thick-cut chips, served with tartar sauce. It’s not gourmet, but it’s exactly what you'd want from a traditional pub. 🍺 Drinks They’ve got a decent beer selection on tap – from lagers like Coors to darker options like Guinness or a local ale. Prices are reasonable, and they often have offers (like £1.99 cask ales). The pint glasses even have custom designs which add a fun local touch. 🎯 Atmosphere Inside, it's a football fan's haven – decked out with memorabilia, screens showing live sports, and a buzzing crowd when matches are on. Outside seating is a bonus on sunny days, and there’s even space to get some work done with a pint in hand. 👥 Service Staff were friendly and efficient even when it was busy. The menu is straightforward and easy to navigate, and you won’t be waiting long for your food or drinks. 💸 Value for Money You’re getting exactly what you pay for — big portions, solid drinks, and a front-row seat to local pub culture. Ideal before or after catching a match. 📍 Location Right on the route to Old Trafford, it’s a perfect pit stop. Expect crowds on game day, so arrive early if you want a seat!

Great Wetherspoons pub. Not far from Manchester Uniteds football ground so I assume it gets busy on match days. Lots of Man United memorabilia inside. Only problem for me was the only stout they had, was Guinness. And this was during a beer festival. Very clean ladies toilets, nice decor 👍

Lovely pub near the ground. Great atmosphere. Singing and chanting nonstop. Friendly staff and friendly punters (Irish ppl). Good selection of beers on tap. (please note - there are queues and numbers headcounts; we arrived 2 1/2 hours before kickoff and it was busy!; you have to pay £1 coin to get in!) ... At £4.25 a pint for Brewdog Punk IPA... Steal. Definitely coming back! RECOMMEND.
