Shark Club Gastro Bar

Why is Shark Club Gastro Bar good for fans?

Directly across from St James’ Park and a 2-minute walk to the turnstiles, Shark Club is set up for matchday with live football on numerous big screens. Local guides note it gets busy on matchdays, and the official menu lists bucket-deal beers and a full food menu—handy for pre- or post-match. It’s highlighted both in home-fan pub lists and in an away-fans guide via the on-site Sandman hotel, indicating it works for both sets of supporters. In short: super close to the ground, live football on TV, and food/drink to keep groups sorted before and after the game.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Welcomed and treated with great kindness. Brooke was fantastic and made the meal and evening lovely. Thank you! Would highly recommend the steak bites! Divine!

Popped into Shark Club Gastro Bar in Newcastle for lunch with a mate, and it was a proper treat! Their wings are the star- tender, juicy, and perfectly marinated. We split a platter with Korean and BBQ flavors, both absolute bangers. Couldn’t resist the steak bites either—succulent and packed with flavor. Priced around £15-£20 for the lot, it’s great value. The staff were dead friendly, keeping the vibe upbeat in this lively, modern gastro bar. One tip: avoid match days unless you love a packed house—it gets swarmed with footie fans! Perfect spot near the city center for a casual bite. Highly recommend for a top-notch pub lunch—just plan around Newcastle United games!

We are staying in the hotel connected and ate our evening meal in here. The food wad delicious, we had burgers and cocktails. Our waitress Georgina was lovely and her service was excellent, fantadtic member of the team :) Edit: I took a few chips of my partners plate just incase people think the portion size is small it absolutely wasnt.

I've always loved coming to Shark Club. The food is consistently top-notch, and the wait staff are friendly and professional. It’s been one of my favourite spots for a long time. However, this recent visit was deeply disappointing. The security staff, particularly one with a long beard, was extremely rude and completely out of line. Basic courtesy and professionalism were clearly lacking. It might be worth taking a page from your colleagues over at Stack, who know how to treat customers with respect. This experience has unfortunately overshadowed what has otherwise been a great track record with Shark Club. Great food alone isn't enough; service matters just as much. I truly hope this is addressed.

It is less good. Wings have lost the magic sprinkle they used to have. Decent beer, not a great selection. Service is not great either. With the wings you dont get celery or carrots. Sad times. NFL is on with sound probably until the football is back.

Came for wing Wednesdays which was fun! Shame it was so hot in the venue and very busy, it took us well over 20 mins to get and pay the bill! Probably wouldn't recommend as a veggie but came along with some friends and the fried pickles were quite nice

Maybe I’m too old 😩 but very noisy and disappointed to see female members of staff in such short shorts whilst men wear trousers. On match days all the chairs are removed and staff walk round with trays of shots. Tried the double cheese nachos £13.50 and chicken wings with chipotle lime £5. Both tasty. Wine 175ml £6.50 and a pint of Wingman £6.65.
