Gillingham is not bestowed with the best pubs in the world but fair play to Past & Present for providing this small oasis for discerning ale drinkers. It's a long, narrow split-level micropub with a bar down one side at the back. They will serve you here but they also have table service (a rare welcome hangover from the pandemic perhaps). Three cask beers (two Wantsum pale ales and a bitter from someone I can't recall) and a strong Belgian beer on keg St-Feuillien Blonde all very reasonably priced. My own criticism was a musty damp smell although I'm not sure whether that came from the pub or the customers! Could do with some more imaginative décor.

Great range of ever rotating ales and ciders supremely kept. Verbose locals always provide entertainment. Updated: now accepts cards

Always a friendly place with fabulous selection of beers, ales, ciders and gin/rum/whisky. Dave & Lorraine are sooooo lovely and there’s always a local to talk to or plenty of space to sit for a quiet drink! I love going here and enjoying a chilled out drink or a few! Come here for a great drink in Gillingham!

Our first visit to Gillingham, and really pleased we found this lovely Ale House. Comfortable and made to feel welcome from when we walked through the door. Great beer in good company. Thank you.

Called in here yesterday before the match at the priestfield, excellent beers and friendly landlord & landlady. It was that good we called in again after the match before we caught our train home.
