Mary D's Beamish Bar

Why is Mary D's Beamish Bar good for fans?

A classic pre-match spot for Manchester City supporters: the pub is on Grey Mare Lane by the Etihad and is explicitly described by the club as its No.1 pub and sports bar, with fans flocking there in their hundreds on matchdays and DJs building the atmosphere. It’s so close to the ground that you can reportedly hear the stadium announcements from inside. Inside, multiple screens show Sky/TNT Sports, making it a convenient place to watch early kick-offs before heading over. Overall, it’s a home-fan hub with a lively, City-themed build-up and a very short walk to the turnstiles.

We were on a city break and visited here. The bar lady was so friendly and helpful and even opened up the back bar for us to view the Man City memorabilia. We didn’t eat here as we were going to the stadium tour. Highly recommend this friendly place.

First time in this bar. Read the reviews on how nice the staff and door men were. We went before the Jeff Lynne concert and had a great time. Staff really were so friendly. The concert was cancelled due to Jeff's health. So headed back to the bar, met up with lovely Manchester people and fellow scousers. The bar maid came over to us with a tray of shots saying, I'm so sorry the concert was cancelled, have a little drink on us, which I thought was so thoughtful. Great bar and lovely staff, we'll be back when we are next going to the Co op arena. 👌

I only live 3 miles away from the Co-op Arena but never knew about this pub? It’s a short walk from the Co-op, just off Ashton New Road so before going to watch Diana Ross, decided to pop in for a few drinks. All the staff were lovely and welcoming. There were quite a few in who were also going to the concert, so a great atmosphere. We actually went after the concert too which was nice before getting a taxi home. We’ll definitely be back soon to watch ELO and we’ll be having some drinks before and after! Would definitely recommend. ❤️

Forget what you've heard about this pub being rough, It's actually wonderfully friendly, a proper diamond in the rough! Staff and customers alike were really welcoming. Nestled right near the Etihad and Co op arena venues, it's the perfect spot for a pre-gig pint or a post show debrief. Don't expect crystal glasses, it's all plastic cups here, which just adds to the brilliant, no nonsense pub vibe! The floor might be a bit sticky, but honestly, who cares when the atmosphere is this good? I was delighted to find they offer Irn Bru WKD. I hadn't seen that in years! Make sure you visit the toilets. Those funny warped mirrors in there are pure comedy gold. I'm sure it's not deliberate, but it definitely made me laugh trying to touch up my makeup while my reflection was there looking like The Toxic Avenger. Mary D's isn't trying to be anything it's not, and that's its charm. Go for the laughs, stay for the genuine craic!

Reminds me of a working man's club. Pool table, games machines, darts, and table football all on offer. Good service from the bar lady. Locals looked at me as though i was intruding. Plastic glasses..so guess can get rather rowdy at times. Football was showing on a number of well placed tvs..though sound quality was awful...like it was playing out of a single tin speaker. Couple of Guinness well poured...but tasted watered down, not creamy. Shame.

My favourite place to have a pre-match, and now pre-gig beer. There's always a great atmosphere, and the staff are amazing. A massive shout out and thanks to the amazing lady who bandaged my elbow after I tumbled escaping the crowds when the ELO concert was cancelled. You truly went above and beyond 👏
