The food and drinks here are unbelievable, super tasty. I recommend the Steak and Ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. A bit pricier than other pubs in York that serve food, but it's worth the price in my opinion. The ambiance inside is great for chatting, having a pint and relaxing with friends.

What a great place. We needed a quick meal before our concert in nearby York Minster, a short distance away from out hotel. What can I say - the staff were polite, charming and served us very swiftly when explained that we needed to be in the Minster on time as the classical music concert was being recorded for BBC Radio 3.
I chose the chicken breast stuffed with Brie, gorgeous new potatoes, rocket leaves, tomato etc. It was absolutely delicious. But I needed more time to savour every delicious mouthful! My friend chose the Sea Bass and a side portion of chunky chips.I just wish we could have lingered for dessert and to try the amazing array of beers. I was so sad we had to rush off and will definitely be back soon (not living too far away) to relax and sample more culinary delights and savour the experience properly. Thank you to the staff and compliments to the chef for the gorgeously-designed food combinations. Simple and seasonal but so delightful! This is my new "go-to" pub/restaurant now. My mouth is watering just thinking of it. π

Loved the food, shame my first preference sold out but some very tasty dishes and just the best steak pie! Great to see chips actually home made too.
We really enjoyed the Austrian white wine.
It would be great to include something other than brownie or ice-cream for gluten free puddings, although nice, predictable and does not reflect the effort made in your main courses.
Will definitely recommend to friends visiting York.

Lovely venue, great vibe, excellent service and variety of drinks. Lovely outdoor terrace, but would benefit from having electric provided to the heaters, when button was pressed unfortunately there was no heat. Fully appreciate weβve had a warm spell, but temperatures vary throughout the day: Didnβt eat so canβt comment on food. Would highly benefit from a deep clean and attention to detail.

Beautiful view from the second floor - you can see the Minster! Iβve walked past this place many times when in York, but this time I decided to stop for a quick pint.
Great selection of beers, and the prices are fair considering the location. I know some people say it's expensive, but honestly, itβs cheaper than in Leeds city centre. Find me a spot serving a good pint for under Β£6 (except Wetherspoons)!

Came here for the first time with my partner her two nieces and our dog. Place was very well kept, very clean and had a great atmosphere.
The food was incredible, and all the staff were very friendly. They even made some chicken for our dog too.

Had a fantastic meal with friends for my other half's 50th birthday. Service was spot on and the food was great quality. No complaints at all.
I had booked the table well in advance but made a mistake with the date. The staff couldn't have been more helpful in rearranging for us at short notice and squeezing us in.
Thoroughly recommend this place and we will definitely be back again.
