Excellent pub operated by Chantry Brewery (based locally at Parkgate). Full range of their beers on. Competitively priced real ales. Their other pub The New York Tavern is a few minutes walk down the road, also well worth a visit. Rumour has it the brewery is planning on resurrecting the Alma Inn next door as a separate pub. Obviously a massive long term project.
Completing Rotherhams trio of outstanding pubs the Bluecoat (Wetherspoons) should also be on your list.
From What Pub :
Grade II listed. Included in CAMRA's National Inventory of Pub Interiors. Originally built 1825, the pub was rebuilt for Stones Brewery of Sheffield in 1907. Architect R. Wigfull was responsible for the impressive façade and other features.

This was a fantastic pub for drinking, with a superb atmosphere! The staff were very friendly and took us through the drinks available, I enjoyed my Stout after try before you buy. Live music was very enjoyable and the seating is comfortable, outside area is a solid addition too!
