The Fat Boar in Wrexham is a popular matchday venue, frequented by both home and away supporters. It offers live football screenings, including Wales matches, and provides matchday specials such as £4 pints of Wrexham Lager. The pub serves a variety of hearty meals, including burgers, ribs, and Sunday roasts, with food served until late. Its proximity to Wrexham AFC's Racecourse Ground makes it a convenient choice for fans looking to enjoy pre- or post-match food and drinks in a welcoming atmosphere.
I visited for a date night with my partner, we didn’t have food but we had 3 cocktails each. The cocktails are on the more expensive side being 2 for £15, meaning we spent £45 for 3 drinks each. I’ve been to places in Chester and Liverpool that have cheaper drink offers but we didn’t mind paying a little extra as the drinks were presentable, made quickly, strong and also tasted amazing! Would most likely come again.
The food was decent overall. The fish and chips were slightly overdone, but that can happen and didn’t ruin the meal. More frustrating, though, was the service — when I tried to order an espresso martini at around 8:10pm, I was told no because the coffee machine had already been turned off. That’s unreasonably early and gives the impression the staff were more interested in closing up than serving customers. Overall, a disappointing experience for the price you pay.
Attended the unlimited prosecco platter here 2 weeks ago with friends. What an incredible night. Well worth the money. Food was plentiful, fresh and delicious. The waiting staff were brilliant. May i say that Jacques was especially helpful, friendly and looked after us all night
Looked forward to a roast dinner as we had never had a bad dinner sadly we were disappointed we sent the meal back as it was almost cold! Starters were excellent drinks order were fast but the whole experience was let down by the food which didn't look like anything you seen on the menu the plate was swimming in gravey and food was pile on the plate the service was excellent i did tell them we didn't enjoy the meal plus later l email them and they said they would pass it on to the kitchen staff for the future the food as always been top notch but we wouldn't be having a Sunday roast there again
My Daughter and myself were looking for a treat for lunch in Wrexham. My daughter admitted she had been to The Fat Boar previously during the evening. We took a chance and arrived about 12.30 and I asked were they doing walk-ins for lunch? They were. Staff are polite and friendly and knowledgeable about intolerances(I'm Coeliac) We were given menu choices, even down to the specials on offer. Both of us chose the beer battered fish and chips( mine the G. F. Option) The portions were large and very nice! I also had the brownie for dessert. ( Really nice and gooey) All in all a nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. We will be returning soon. Recommended. :-)
