A classic West Brom boozer that’s a magnet for Baggies supporters; CAMRA describes it as a “mecca for fans of West Bromwich Albion,” with memorabilia on the walls. It’s also practical on matchdays: Dartmouth Street tram stop is about 400m away and key bus routes (74, 79) run nearby, making it easy to move between town and the ground. Inside, you’ll find regular cask from Wye Valley and rotating guest ales, and crucially the pub shows Sky Sports and TNT Sports—handy for early kick-offs or the late game after full-time.
I had heard a lot about this place being a great real ale pub, so I thought I'd check it out. I have to say in that aspect, it wasn't all everyone cracks it up to be, the selection was very basic. Bloke behind the bar was friendly enough, so service was great, and it was an ok place to chill out in for a couple of pints.
Great small local Pub offering a range of real ales which change weekly for a good choice, lagers and ciders also on tap and an extensive cocktail selection. Real fire for those cosy winter evenings and a beer garden for those warm summer nights. A proper pub located on West Brom High Street. #oroperpub can be found on Twitter @OldHopPole
A true Black Country gem! Great ales, friendly locals and top staff, the Old Hop Pole is the best pub in West Brom. Real fire if it's chilly outside and a warm welcome always. Well worth a visit 🔥🍻👍
Traditional pub (the last one in West Brom, or so we were told) with range fire and dark corners to sit in. Nice touches in ladies loos. Friendly service. On our visit limited selection of real ales, all pale. Other than that, great.
Nice friendly locals pub.
