📍 0.7 miles from Vicarage Road
Right on Watford High Street and a short walk from key transport hubs (about 0.5 miles from Watford Junction and 0.6 miles from Watford High Street Overground), Slug & Lettuce is an easy pre-match meet-up. CAMRA’s WhatPub lists Sky Sports and BT Sport on site, so lunchtime kick-offs and post-match highlights are covered. The venue also serves food through the day (listed service 12:00–21:00), handy for lining up before heading to Vicarage Road. General away-day guides note that town-centre pubs in Watford are suitable for visiting supporters, making this High Street spot a practical neutral choice on matchdays.
Very quiet. I hadn't been to a S&G for years and thought it would have the same atmosphere as the city restaurants (even for a Tuesday lunch) The staff were excellent as was the service. However the food, not so. Everything was deep fried in breadcrumbs. It was hard to distinguish the chicken from the duck and the calamari from the cheese. I asked why the boa buns was so dark and was told "that's how they are"
A truly disappointing bottomless brunch experience. We originally had a 12:00 booking, which the venue rescheduled to 4:00 due to a lack of bookings, assuring us that the later sitting would be busier. However, upon arrival we discovered that only two tables were booked for brunch, resulting in no atmosphere at all. The food was average at best, and some items from the set menu were not served. Despite there being only 11 customers in the bar, the five members of staff were extremely inattentive. Service was slow, dirty plates were left on tables, and we eventually had to take our plates to the bar ourselves as staff were simply chatting behind it. The other table was equally dissatisfied — they were given a bottle of Prosecco without any glasses to drink from. Both tables raised complaints with the manager, who appeared indifferent and said there was nothing he could do. No apology or gesture of goodwill was offered. He claimed he had instructed staff to clear plates, but they did not listen to him, which highlights a clear lack of management. While we understand that atmosphere can’t always be controlled, the service absolutely can. With so few customers, the team should have gone above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and we will not be returning.

Unfortunately we attend on a Saturday at 4pm With a table of 13 ladies celebrating 🍾 we was shocked to find not all tables was bottomless and attended the event, you had guys stood at bar and playing pool and few couples sat drinking. This wasn't a problem as all friendly but as a event that you pay for, we thought it was a orangised a event as it had a start and finish tkme for all those attending at same time.Although the atmosphere wasn't brilliant we had a giggle and made it the best we could and got involved with other tables to celebrate. Dj requests was told a few times he didn't have the songs we wanted. The guy we had servicing us was lovely and trying his best but as we arrived we got 1 welcome drink, and then half hour later out came our 1st drink. Considering you only get 1 hour bottomless drinks this wasn't the best service, we had to go the bar for drinks as the orders wasn't coming to which one of the party then got charged as our time was up! although we was still waiting on our drinks. Food well what can I say if you blinked you missed it.... the started bread was hard and nasty like it had sat on the side too long...the wait in-between courses was far to long the pizza came out and between us we got to small pizza not even enough for a slice each. MINI Burgers was okay again maybe enough for one or the other THESE was a quarter of a burger each. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't be returning any time soon. Sad as I have been to slug and lettuce a few times.
Emma was our server. Emma had the best vibe around her during the bottomless brunch. We had such a good time. Emma was understanding with certain questions durning the brunch. Will definitely come back. Emma made sure she was serving us to the best of her ability. Truly loved having Emma as a server. She made sure she got to know us all, understanding why we’re were here. We loved having Emma would truly recommend her as a server and slug and lettuce as a place.
